About Reno.Somerset boulders:
A new area in the sierra foothills just outside of Reno, I say "new" because after a thorough search i've found no reference to it anywhere. A dozen or more boulders spread out over several hilltops, each of the big ones holding at least one good line. Unlike most of the rock in this area which tends to be compressed volcanic dirt... these stones are solid, gritty (read: sharp) tan granite similiar to Buttermilks. Very lil' if any signs of chalk on most of the boulders, lots of harder first ascents waiting to be done. |
