About Moderate Mecca:

Description: Moderate Mecca is just that, a mecca of moderate trad climbing. It is also a haven for those learning how to climb since setting up topropes is easily done from above the cliff. While it is popular for climbing clinics, there are plenty of climbs here and they are rarely all in use.

Classics: Valentine's Day, Scalawag, Pending Disaster, Abbey Road

Approach: From the Red Springs turnout, continue up the road until it ends in a large parking area. To the south, you will see a dirt path heading up the hill. Follow this up until it crests the hill and heads down and left. Follow it a for a bit, but take the path on your right that heads toward the cliff. This path continues along the base of the cliff for a ways. The climbs are on your right once you pass a bolt at about eye level.

When to climb: Moderate Mecca is south facing and receives sun all day. This makes it an ideal cool weather destination.
