About Mount Wilson:

Mount Wilson stands alone in Red Rocks as the biggest, highest, and perhaps the most intimidating wall for free climbers in the area. It's home to many classics and many unknown routes as well as some serious adventure climbing. Many of the climbs here used to be located in either First Creek or Oak Creek Canyon, but because all of these climbs are really located on the main face of Mount Wilson, they have been moved here.

Access: Mt. Wilson is one of the walls that a bivi permit can be obtained for the bigger climbs. Remember that bivis are not allowed on the ground, but on the wall only.

When to climb: Mount Wilson faces east, but because the walls are so massive, the only time to brave this wall is in the middle of the Spring or Fall when the days are semi-long, but not very hot. This wall receives snow and keeps it both on top and halfway up in the winter, and the oppressive heat will keep parties off it in the summer.

Classics: Resolution Arete, Lady Wilsons Cleavage, Inti Wantana

Nearest town or city: Red Rock
Directions: Mount Wilson can be accessed from one of three access points. You can either access it from the loop road and the Oak Creek Pullout (good for the short climbs actually in the canyon) or from the pullout off SR159. A third access is the First Creek approach.
