Black Arch Wall
About Black Arch Wall:
Description: The Black Arch wall sits just west of Black Orpheus and is home to some great routes. These routes all have rap stations and top out in the Upper Painted Bowl.
Approach: Approach by heading up the trail leading into Oak Creek Canyon. Once even with the Solar Slab area, look for a climbers trail leading into the wash. Once in the wash, follow it westward for about 20-30 minutes, looking for giant, low angle slab that comes into view. Near here is a cairn on top of a large boulder. Pick a way up through the brush and cruise up into the slabs, heading north. Black Orpheus is on your right, the Arch Wall is straight ahead. Beta/Updates: This wall is the super-secret descent from the rappels of Orpheus, rather than walking through the Lower Painted Bowl. It can shave up to an hour off the descent time. |
