About Niagara Climbing Center:

Niagara Climbing Center has established itself as the premier indoor climbing destination in Western New York. As the only full service rock climbing gym in the Buffalo / Niagara Falls area, it is home to an enthusiastic local climbing community. Whether it's the first time you've wrapped your fingers around a hold, or you've been feeding the climbing habit for years – you'll find NCC both inviting and challenging. Niagara Climbing Center features: 6000 square feet of climbing terrain 40 toprope stations, each 20 feet high A variety of walls and routes to suit beginner, intermediate, and advanced climbers Intriguing features like roofs, bulges, and top-outs that help to develop skills needed on real rock Space for long routes and traverses to build endurance and focus on specific techniques Always fresh, quality routes by our in-house route-setters Lead climbs, including those that tackle our 30-foot-long horizontal roof A Bit of History In the summer of 1994, Lumber City Rock Gym opened it's doors as the first rock climbing gym in the Buffalo / Niagara Falls area. It immediately became the epicenter of the small local climbing scene and opened the eyes of countless others all that climbing had to offer. Word spread and suddenly rock climbing wasn't such an obscure thing around here. As a result of this growing climbing population, the nearby Niagara Glen saw increased activity on its boulders. While this area had long been known as a climbing loaction, it wasn't until the late nineties that the full potential of those boulders began to be realized. Local climbers helped to ensure continued climbing access by working with land managers, respecting the escarpment headwall closure, and instituting a voluntary toprope ban on the boulders. The Niagara Glen is now home to hundreds of boulder problems and has attracted climbers from all over the US, Canada, and beyond. In February 1998, Lumber City Rock Gym was reincarnated as Niagara Climbing Center. Under new ownership, the goals of the gym remained much the same: continue to provide a home for the local climbing scene and help introduce others to the rewards of rock climbing. Climb on.
