The crag behind Bowmanstown....This area is on private property; hiking is allowed and climbing is "tollerated" but be careful not to park in front of anyones house or the appartment buildings. The best spot to park is adjacent to the baseball field which sits on the righthand side of the road. "DISCOVERED" in the 1980s, it has oversteep and steep routes, some protected with clean gear and some sport routes, some mixed. Generally the climbing here tends to be hard and short, about thirty five to sixty five feet. A great outdoor gym. Hot in summer and cold in winter.
ACCESS UPDATE FEB 06:
Although climbing is mostly tolerated at “Stoney” the township does not allow climbing on the property and has posted no trespassing signs. At the moment the fire station has also expressed they do not want car traffic near the fire house. The township itself officially does not allow climbing on the property nor does the former alliance sand quarry. When climbing here DO NOT draw excess attention to climbing and please respect the township’s wishes in not over publicizing the area or drawing in crowds. Parking is only tolerated at the ball feild and not near the fire house or houses.
