Challenge Buttress
About Challenge Buttress:
The approach begins approximately 100 yards before the Storm Mountain Campground, a pronounced parking area exists. At this point, a smaller stream connects with the Big Cottonwood Stream. The trailhead is marked by a steep hill that meanders to the South (through the trees). Approximately 100 yards up the trail, Challenge Buttress is visible. Chambered Nautilus and Coral Bells Arete are visible on the Northeast corner of the Buttress. Most climbs in this area require a standard rack. Although some routes are all sport, BEWARE. Some routes are bolted with the intention of interspersing trad gear (Coral Bells Arete and Touch of Teflon). |
