About Old Sandstone Area:

The Old Sandstone Area is simply an extension of the East Bluff, but definitely shouldn't be overlooked. Instead of the normal quartzite found through the rest of the Devil's Lake area, both this and the New Sandstone areas are excellent sandstone (friction at Devil's Lake?!). PLEASE NOTE: The New Sandstone area is currently CLOSED to climbing, and the Old Standstone area was just recently opened. Please take great care throughout the area w/ garbage, the area's wildlife, etc. Also, just like the rest of cliffs throughout the Devil's Lake State Park, there's no bolting.
Nearest town or city: Baraboo
Directions: To get to Devil's Lake, please refer to the directions listed at the East Bluff description. Once in the park though, continue past CCC parking lot. Approximately 1 mi. past this, there will be a prarie on the right, with a small sand parking lot as well (it'll only hold 6 cars max, which is a great indicator if the area is crowded or not). The trail head which leads to the cliff band starts right by the speed limit sign.
