About Piedra Rommel:
General Information: Piedra Rommel is a climbing/bouldering area that lies on private land, constituted of a few very large boulders that lie next to a river, a fee of $2000 chilean pesos per car is paid at the entrance, hiking in can waive the fee but takes around an hour and a half. Do not attempt to lead routes on the rock, the bolts are very old, ask any climbers present if they are safe first. If no one is around then stay off the bolts. There are few intermediate routes here, for that kind of climbing go to palestras del manzano, which lies around a 2 hour hike away. Arrival Elevation: 3200 ft / 975 m Area Resources: The rocks are located next to a stream that feeds directly from snowmelt, water should be boiled before drinking but is potable in it's natural form. Camping is free if the fee is not considered, you may camp right at the rock and it's one of the best climber campgrounds in central chile since few non-climbers come here.
