About El Reventador:
And now for something completely different. This is a 13,000 foot peak in the jungle east of the main crest of the Andes. Nothing technical, just a wild jungle bushwhack. |
Nearest town or city: | El Chaco |
Directions: | Take the bug heading to Lago Agrio from Quito - buy your ticket to go to El Revetador. Once you get to the village of El Chaco(about 4 hours and pass the checkpoint) wake up and pay attention. Look sharp on the right(south) side of the road for an impressive waterfall on high on the hillside - this is the cascada de san rafael, and you should tell the driver this is where you want to go. Head up the road another mile or so over the bridge until you see a park sign for el reventador. this is the trailhead. |
