Definitely worth a second look, I say. Bearing in mind my lack of photographic skill, I'd say:
Pluses:
- camera angle: The cliff base doesn't run horizontally across the photo, which makes it more interesting.
- climber position: He's reaching, it looks tricky, and adds motion to the shot.
- photographer position: The rope/gear aren't immediately obvious, so they add to the tension at first glance and don't distract.
Minuses:
- the ground: Yep, it's distracting. I'd personally crop some of it out. Depending on your thoughts, also maybe try and regain some colour in that section (Photoshop, etc).

Overall, well, it's pretty good, by my standards at least.
