got a real harness before doing that.
Thats what I did the first time I went rapelling. Then I got a Whillan's, but the (*ahem) "boys" insisted that I get something to keep them together.
I climbed in a swami belt exclusively from 1979-1985, the pinnacle of my climbing career to date. El Cap, Half Dome, Grand Teton, Eldo, RMNP, Gunks, NH, well you get the picture. The biggest whipper I ever took on a swami was 25'. Honestly, it was no big deal.
