It's been done before, I'm sure, but a search didn't turn up anything recent and I didn't see anything in the FAQ. It's rather straightforward. Just post whatever music you're presently listening to, or what you last listened to if you're not listening to anything at the moment. King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

Nice music, I love it. The cover is a classic, as well as this progrerssive rock. When the current CD I'm listening too is over (Paolo Nutini, great songs with a good sense of melody and rhythm, though his voice is sometimes a bit annoying), I will play King Crimson.

Today I've been listening to... Kings of Leon Modest Mouse Lily Allen (good taste there ma) Friday night on my 2-hour drive up to LA, I listened (and sang) to the entire Broadway recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. Somebody needs to revive that musical. I may have to pull out some King Crimson when I get home. Haven't listened to them in quite a while.

I haven't heard that song in ages. I was listening to 10,000 Days by Tool earlier. It's not only Tool's worst album but one of the worst albums I've heard in a long time, and I'm sort of a whore for Tool. The second, third, and fourth tracks are worth listening to but the rest is nothing more than tripe. I'll be listening to some more Umphrey's McGee in a moment, specifically their cover of Kashmir.

^^ Snap! I never take my iPod off shuffle, but the last song I heard was Van Halen's Hot for Teacher. Before that it was Talking Heads doin' Life During Wartime (I think) live from Stop Making Sense. Before that it was Boo-YA T.R.I.B.E. with Faith No More doing Another Body Murdered form the Judgment Night soundtrack. Can't remember what was before that.

The album kicks ass though I highly recommend it. Also "Purple Onion" which is the frog brigade is awesome too.

Who? Edit: I am now listening to Bullet in the Head by Rage Against the Machine on http://www.musicovery.com. I'm somewhat glad they're getting back together but I no longer feel compelled to see them live.

You know, the guy who sang Thank God I'm a Country Boy and used to make guest appearances on the Muppet Show. Oh, maybe you don't know and you're just too damn young...or...or...say it isn't so...I'm getting old. AARRRGH!! Yeah, RATM is playing at Coachella Music Fest by me in a couple of weeks and I just don't have it in me to sit in the desert heat. Meh.

Yeah, RATM is playing at Coachella Music Fest by me in a couple of weeks and I just don't have it in me to sit in the desert heat. Meh. The what show? What the hell is a muppet? Is that something you made up in a crochety fit of alzheimer's? Actually, I have seen that show on reruns and I do know who John Denver is, or was. The Muppets remains one of my favorite acting/puppet/whatever troupes but John Denver is definitely not my style. Give me some Smashing Pumpkins or Sonic Youth. Some Tool or Nine Inch Nails. Or something with some good vibes like Umphrey's McGee or Bela Fleck or moe., not this new age emo/screamo/scene horse shit (not that I'm implying JD fits into one of those - I know better than that). What the fuck happened to the classic music of a bygone era? Where are the Dead Kennedys of today, or the Sex Pistols or the Clash? Fuck the Ramones - they weren't shit. Where did those guys go and where did all this "His Infernal Majesty" or "As the Blood Runs Black" or "I'm so angsty and the only way to deal with my frustration is to cut, cut, cut" shit come from? Gawdy buckles on studded belts are not fashionable, they are not cool or attractive. So why are they becoming so popular? Why do whiney, angst ridden teenagers geta 10% discount at Hot Topic? The Grateful Dead died before I discovered music and was old enough to ride the acid wave. Today, there are no more waves - only that sXe crap which espouses being able to have fun without drugs or alcohol. That's a flat out lie. I'd wager that I'm younger than you and even I'm starting to feel old.

Dude, trust me, John Denver is not my style either. He just reminds me of my youth and I thought it was really weird that my radio station (which is really progressive) played him. And I'm on board with your anti-emo ranting. My teen angst music was The Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys. I had a poster of Sid Vicious on my bedroom wall. Yeah!! Edited: because I can't spell

The Pixies - Where is My Mind? Rolling Stones - Paint it Black I remember hearing a cover of Paint it Black in 2:4 once. Or 1:4. In any case, it was an outstanding cover but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Next up: Tears for Fears - Mad World

Maybe that's the one I'm looking for. The melody (?) was cut in half and effectively doubled the length of the song, but doing so made it so much more memorable and comparable, if not better than, the original.

Edit: If you're going to blast music, play some Ministry or some Slayer. Hippies hate Slayer. Or was it Pantera? I totally forgot because I got pulled over and the officer made me smoke the whole bag.

Back up in this forum with the resurrection! I'm listening to some Widespread Panic right now. I don't know which album it is and I'm not a huge fan of Widespread but it's not too bad. I know there are a few good songs on whichever album this is.

A recording of a flamenco tune that I made at home yesterday afternoon. 4 guitar tracks, laboriously learned by ear from an mp3, digitized from a substantially damaged videotape. My middle daughter is going to choregraph a dance to it.

Hmmmph...probably the same tunes I was listening to when I last posted to this thread. It depends on whose iTunes library is up on my network but usually there's a bit of Steve Carlton, Love Arcade, The Academy Is (amazing live band - haven't seen Steve or LA in person yet but TAI is a rockin' good time), Sarah Brightman, Celtic type stuff, Flogging Molly and Enya. I also throw in some country faves like Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Leann Rimes along with a healthy dose of Prince just to round out the sound. :)
