You got a point... Learner made you go from looking like an eager n00b to a person who needs an overzealous dumbass n00b to defend him.

But you are askin for a world of hurt if you are still lookin for arguments. The butthurtz comes strong in this forum.

Question, how bad is the bite ? Did you need medical attention ? or was it a simple nip that just ruined your day enough to rant on here .

Didn't break the skin, but did tear some stitching from the back pocket of my pants and left me with a slobbery ass and backpack.

It did ruin the day though, packed up and went home after because I would have had an aneurism sharing a crag with that bunch, their dog and their baby, their lawn chairs, their music, constant chatter on cell phones - "where are you? yah we're here dude! Come one out!" - their flailing on hard routes, while the belayer pulled them up, and then spraying about their 5.12b ascent...

I go to an out-of-the-way crag at 6am on a monday to avoid those kinds of people.

Just finished dinner, have a stair run (with 40lbs pack) at 8:30pm.
For me stair run after dinner = boke. But then, it's hours till 8:30 over there, isn't it? Almost midnight here...

Too bad I spent all day trying to partition my hard drive with shitty OS X 10.4, only to wipe the whole damn thing on accident when installing Kubuntu. Grrrrrrrrrr

A blessing in disguise. Now you can install a decent Linux distro.

I was working on a reply when you wrote that. But way to use the spell-checker...

Slang and Profanity aren't usually approved by a spell checker though.

And, I also don't deny there have been attacks by goldens, labs, etc. I've seen aggressive dogs of all breeds, though generally there is some history (blindness, abuse, tumor) to "explain" the behavior.

I'm not sure how I fall on regulation of breeds. My point was more that the general argument of "it's not the breed it's the owner" seems, generally, to be contrary to my experience. Your explanation that it's the owners looking for aggressive dogs reinforcing those traits through their interaction with the dog, as well as through selective breeding isnt (as I understand it) fully separate from my point. I think mine includes yours.

I think it fully comes down to a combination of the two. I have a cocker spaniel. Cute, cuddly, sweet dog. That said, I don't trust her with small children and I don't take her to the crag. Small children... I know that her ears are sensitive as they are in most of her breed. What do kids do? They pull on dogs ears. I don't trust her not to snap at one. Not because she's done it before, but because I know the potential is there. Crags... I don't take her because I don't intend to spend all of my time on the ground watching her. I don't want her to inconvenience other people, even though I would keep her leashed. And... I don't want to have to be worried about my dog instead of the climb or the climber I'm belaying. it comes down to the owner and the breed. Pits and Rotties aren't necessarily more aggressive than other breeds, but their tensile jaw strength is higher which causes more damage when they do bite. And yes, I think the way the owner controls their animal has a lot to do with what results occur. If the dog can get out and attack somebody, that's the owner's fault. If it's kept contained and controlled, there is less potential for it to happen. With any breed. We had a pit that little kids pulled on, jumped on, got its' ear pierced by a smaller dog and it just laid there and let it happen. But that's not always the case. I don't think that there should be breed restrictions, but I do think there should be restrictions on who can have dogs and who can't.

The intent is that this is an Internet forum, hence a discussion in written form. Thus inclining people to use slang, spell in phonetic form(to emulate personality and accent's) to have a written VERBAL form of communication.

That's about the lamest excuse for illiteracy I've ever seen. Like I said, that makes two of you who think that way, the other person, Enigma, being even less comprehensible than you. You might want to think about why skilled writers don't need to use multiple commas or other contrivances to communicate "personality and accent's [sic]" on the Internet.

Joe, no one has been attacking you for the past several posts, we've been after learner. Some comments were made because it was annoying that you kept saying that she should have talked to the owner, when she did talk to the owner. She was clearly screwing around when she started the thread in her threats to cut the rope.

The only heavy insulting going on here is Learner coming in and being a comeplete jackass to K repeatidly for very little reason. He showed time and time again that he just couldn't help but make attempts at cutting personal insults (not calling someone an asshole, but rather commenting on me having no friends, K being a bad mother, etc.). He deserves every little piece of pwnbread that gets stuffed down his throat.

By the way, my spelling, grammar, and punctuation were absolutely terrible when I first got to this site. The worst grades I got in highschool were always in English, mostly due to my inability to form coherent sentences or get my point across. A wee bit of flaming here and there and BAM, I'm like fukkin Joeseph Conrad or something.

Come to think of it... aren't ad-hominem attacks against the TOS?

I think that calling someone you don't know a bad parent would qualify.

I'll leave that up to someone else if they want to report the post.

Meh, it's the scummuity, and a lame insult at best. My advice is to ignore, save up your pent up anger and wait a few months and then really prove him wrong in another thread.

If she waits a couple of months, she'll be a couple months late. I have a feeling that Learner won't be with us for long.
