ok...so moving on...

The Dolphins traded WR Chambers to the Chargers this week for a second round pick in 2008.

Looks like a good trade for both teams: the Chargers get a #1 receiver that they've been lacking and the Dolphins assure themselves the first overall pick in next years draft because they don't stand much of a chance of winning a game this year.Laugh

Haven't researched the trade but I am surprised a little every time I hear about an NFL mid-season trade. I know they can, just they do it so rarely.

As if things couldn't get worse for the Dolphins, they lost their only hope, Ronnie Brown, who will miss the rest of the season.

Too earlier to speculate on who they take with the first overall pick?

Are they allowed to start signing kids form High School? Wouldn't get them in NCAA problems and there are some kids in Texas that could probably play

and California.

I don't know if we want to open up that can of worms but I actually think they should let players right out of high school in the NFL. Yeah yeah we don't want to sink down to the level of the NBA but come on, average life in the NFL is only like 5 years with the risk of injury. Give these blockheads a chance to make some money before they get hurt.

Plus, then we might have an excuse to let high school cheerleaders in Wink

Even the NBA reversed itself and banned High School draftees.

Lifespan in the NFL is short but 5 years is about 4 years, 364 days more than a HS player would last.
NBA can get buy more on skill, which may be present in a HS kid, but the NFL requires PHYSICAL maturity. A 5' 9" 185 pound kid may be an All-American tailback in HS, in the NFL he's a statistic in one game. They need that time in college to grow, get mature bodies. Send them in after HS and I guarantee you see a drop in that years of service average. Kids will be out of football and crippled for life by age 24.

This Joe Gibbs is ready to return to NASCAR after today?

No, and it never was.

Funny thing, analysts were saying that game was going to be close...how many more times are they gonna make that mistake this year.

And I know I've already ranted about this in this thread but did you see how open Mike Vrabel was again?! WTF? 10 receptions and 10 TDS. Get a freakin clue, watch film prior to the game. The Redskins did figure it out the second time around, and I believe it was Sean Taylor decided to"guard" (read: blattantly tackle) Vrabel to prevent another TD.

I didn't watch football again this week, too busy out climbing. But I heard the pats beat the redskins by something ridiculous? like 50-7??

How many weeks in a row have the pats crushed the point spread? I wish I had picked up some of that action. They can't be stopped!

Climbing?! Pfft! Overrated.

I have the Pats D in my Fantasy league. One guy has Tom Brady and Randy Moss, he is crushing!

overrated? hahahaha!!! What's overrated is watching a pro league with 30 teams, where only 2 teams have a legitimate chance of winning it all.

Is it fun to watch a lot of shitty teams? Is it fun to watch the Pats annhiliate a vastly inferior opponent? Doesn't seem to me like the NFL has a lot going for it these days... but I don't play fantasy, which definitely does make it more interesting.

I guess I'll stick to the granite and catch up on the monday morning sports radio!

Although, this coming week's matchup between colts and pats might be the only worthwhile game all season. Until they meet again in the AFC championship game of course.

yeah, I have the pats D, Brady, Welker and had Sammy Morris before he got hurt. Doing well by me in fantasy .

The whole issue of predicting games is pretty rediculous. Before the season SanDiego, the Jets, Washington, Miami, they were all supposed to be strong teams. You never know till you play the game.

Well of course that's true. But the example you cite is before the season began, when everyone had hopes and expectations. Plus, San diego, the jets, washington and miami all had big changes in the offseason, while the pats and colts were mostly the same.

And naturally anything can happen. some teams will start to play better. Some won't! Some may play a little worse. But it's not like the pats and colts are going to get a lot worse!

But, it is the NFL so it's barring injury of course.

But if you ask me, it's like the mid 90s. Is it the 49ers or the Cowboy's year? Except that the rest of the league seems worse?

All the same except the Pats completely replaced their entire receiver corps and lost their primary running back. Tongue

But that's my point. The Pats were a "known" for the most part. All those other teams supposedly upgraded. That's what all those predictions are based on.

Well, there have been some pretty big injuries around the league this year, but I still think there is a LOT more balance in the league nowawdays than there was in those pre-cap days. In dy and New England have just done exceptional jobs managing those challenges

Oh for sure, Indy and the Pats are clearly the best teams, and that is due in equal measures to the players, the coaches and the front office. Those two teams have done the best job on all three fronts. The front office might in fact be the most valuable part of a team these days in dealing with the salary cap and its issues.

I'm just saying I'd rather go climbing than watch bad football. But maybe that's because I live in the bay, home to the raiders and niners, two of the most unwatchable teams in the NFL. THey don't just lose, they're boring and they lose.

I was being sarcastic and am now just bitter that you got to climb this weekend.

I also agree that there is way more balance with the cap than without, but then again there is the Yankee syndrome.

As much as I love you and the redpointmomma (admittedly, I have more love for the redpointmomma than you.... hey, gimme a break, she's cuter!), I have to say this:

Kiss. My. Ass.

Wink
