If I can get somone to drive down there with me I migh make it. I won't know what my class schedule will be like until Jan, but I thinking climbing is at least as important as school. PM me if you are planning to drive down from the Wasatch Front.

I can get a group spot at Indian cove but that is only 15 people and can get pay for some family spots that are 6 people. But the family spots are $10 dollars a peice. Let me find out how many family spots there are and I'll let you all know. Don't worry everyone I'll make this work one way or another. We might have to spend about $5 a night to camp out or something like that. darn it I'm gonna make this work or I'm gonna realy mad . O.K. not so much... but I'll get something, the only thing is that we probally going to stay at Indian Cove I'll let you know tommorow. I'm gonna plan for -Zac

O.K here is the deal... I reserved a spot at Indian Cove for the 16th and checking out on the 19th. This spot holds 15 people and 5 cars, this cost me $60. At Indan cove they have Family spots that hold 6 people and 2 cars for $10 per night. There are 81 out of 101 of the family sites avaible as of now. I figure if I can get 5 of us to reserve one family site that will give us room for 45 people and 15 cars, and that might be good. So is there anyone out there that could help me out? I would jump for joy if we could get 7 of these sites. Let me know through this Forum if you can do this for me and everyone eles that is planning this. You can make these reservations by calling (800)365-2267or the web site reservations.nps.gov The site I have is Indian Cove Group site 10, so try to get it as close to that as posible. Thank You for all your help. -Zac

We're trying to work out the details. Hopefully we can make it. I checked on AOL today, and airline tickets were as low as $104 round trip to Ontario Airport - closest airport to J-Tree. Also, Alaska Air has roundtrip tickets for $190 to Ontario. I'll keep trying to make this trip work -- sounds like a blast! Bye for now . . ., and CLIMB ON!!! JULES

FYI For those unable to get in a site for the weekend ya'll are planning this hoedown, there is a bit of BLM land just a short drive from Indian Cove where primitive camping is allowed. You can't really leave any gear behind for the day, but it is both quite and legal. Just a thought for those concerned about getting an avaliable site.

Unless you purposefully drive through traffic San Diego to Joshua Tree is a reliable 2:15 to 2:30, depending on where in San Diego you start from. I've driven there probably 30-40 times and I don't think I've ever spent more than 2.5 hours of _driving_ time, including bad traffic days. Late at night, speeding, I've gone campsite to door in sub 2 hours. Someone who spends 3-4 hours getting there is doing something wrong. josh

I don't know where I'll be but here is some travel advice: 1. for airfares, try www.itasoftware.com, find the lowest fares and then try the airline websites. Also, try www.orbitz.com and www.expedia.com 2. for rental cars, try orbitz.com-I'm getting $73 per WEEK! out of LAX. It may be worth the extra drive time. Also, airfares are cheap and often less restricted to Las Vegas than to other cities. 3. I have rented hotel rooms just outside J-tree park for under $30. works out great if you share with 3-4 others richard Aiken

IN!! I could pick people up at ONT or PSP but let me know when and where. I live about 15 min east of ONT and work near PSP 7am to about 2pm Tues to Friday. So coming in, it could be ONT from 3pm-11pm thurs night, and PSP around 3pm friday (I don't HAVE to work Friday if I don't really want to though) and drop off at either place when ever. I have to give my boss like a week notice (he is a climber too and understands) so let's hook it up. Call if you need the help. TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag 909 800 5537

I'm going to have about 4 people with me also so I'm thinking that 2 more sites and we should be fine. If we need to get more later I don't think that will be a problem. I'm thinking that there will be 35 to 40 people there, with the people that decide last minute and the people who cancel. -Zac

I am planning on being in Josh for at least a week in January and will try and plan on being there around the 16-19 weekend, so please keep a parking spot for me. I will probably be there before the 16th and will be at hidden valley (hoepfully), but will plan an excursion to meet you all. I will be coming from Chico and may have room for a body or two - depending on MY partner coming or not.

Beaware that this campground has it's own entrance, but has climbing within walking. If you have a qustion you can PM me and keep checking this post for info. Oh and if you reserve a spot can you please post that you did so I can talley the space we have.I'll have more Info about the gathering later (directions, local stores, and areas that we might hit) Hope to see you all there -Zac

One more thing. If people in college or whatever school can't make it for the Jan 17-19 Gathering, I would be more than willing to try to organize something for early January (2-10th) whether it be rides to and from the airport (let's coordinate on this) or just getting everyone together to drink beer and tell lies. PM me if this sounds like a plan. And dammit, try to get the 17th-19th off. It will be a blast!!! TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag

take a plane to Ontario , the flights will be cheaper then palm springs. It's about 2 hrs away by car. But if you drive speedy, maybe sooner. Watch out for the wind-mill pass /could flip over your car if your not careful --driving fast, windows open, lots of breeze. Once had a rental car go from the far right to the left lane ,before I regained control. Guess someone wanted me to make it through....
