the patch of hairless, scabby, scar-tissue-ridden, skin on the meaty part of the back of my hand between my thumb joint, and my middle finger. abused like a red-headed stepchild.

It's not really one thing, but several.... My half set of Hexes. They were the first trad gear I bought when I started climbing 12 years ago. I'm a Hex fiend and will take a hex over anything else if I can. I've reslung them about four times.

In reply to: Two Magic Beans that I keep in a sac. Hopefully you never end up planting them in the ground and having them sprout a big beanstalk.

I've fallen on hand jams a couple times, I was pretty stoked that they held. I slung a log somewhere too. At the time, I would have to say that they were my favorite pieces of gear. Oh and the ledge at devils tower, pretty stoked I fell on that and not the junk way below it. So I guess my favorite gear is natural protection, literally.

My lil' purple #4 Smileys nut. Dunno why but I seem to find a placement for both of mine on just about every pitch I climb with the exception of splitter cracks. It fits in the most amazing ways in places most folks never even think to look...

#1 Yellow Alien #2 Green Alien #3 Metolius Curved Nuts, #'s 5-8 #4 Pink Tri-cam (so useful...) But that's in no particular order. It just depends on what I'm climbing at the time.
