Dude. Punctuation. Learn it. Use it. Communicate with it. Notice I don't care about grammar. Or spelling.

In reply to: yo buddy ill type how i want to. im 16 and i dont care about it wat so ever. and if ur not gunna answer my question DONT POST That is an awesome attitude to have if you want some help on this board. Keep it up and you're likely to not get any help at all. I've never used biners for slacklineing (only used a ratchet and various hooks and things that came with my slackline express kit), but many people here have said to not use slack biners for climbing because of the very large forces involved in slacklining that seriously strain the biners. Do a forums search for more info.

For me, it depends. Big 35kN steel biners? Sure, I'd use them climbing afterwards. A clove hitched oval on an often used line? Naw, it's off of climbing detail from now on.

This seriously has been posted and discussed a lot, but..... The reason you shouldn't use slackline biners for climbing bassically comes down to the way that Alluminum responds to repeated cycles of force (stress is actually the right word).............

for future reference: 'beaner' = incredibly rude racial slur 'biner' or 'krab' = shorthand for carabiner. also for future refrence: some 16 year olds do actually know how to spell and use grammar...those that don't should study harder.

I designated a bunch of booty biners for slacklining, and any gear that I didn't really find useful on my climbing rack (my really awkwardly thick Fixe slings, for example, are excellent for highline setup). Ovals are great, since they're a little clunky to be much fun for most climbing purposes, but they're excellent for slacklines. They're also cheap. I honestly don't worry too much about it though. But that's just me. Worry all you want. ;)

In reply to: BUT, john doesn't have a job... so he will fork over his life before $14 for more biners lol And besides, I do have a larger collection of booty gear than SOMEBODY'S rack, so I can afford to spare a few biners for the slackline!

It's the internet man. The first thing you've gotta learn is not to take anything seriously. Otherwise you just load yourself down with a lot of anger, and nobody likes to be angry, right? ;) If you let it get to you, you stop having fun. :)

Just a thought to those who wouldn't climb on them, wouldn't the biners display visible damage like a crack near the pin on the gate? (see below) http://www.thethornbergs.com/...g/stressfracture.jpg I promise that I won't call them "microfractures" ever again. Learned my lesson on that one. GT

to the OP: hey, sorry people are being jerks to you. however, you did lay down some serious sas in your second post in this thread. perhaps just let things slide a little and it'll all be cool. unless of course you want other people to think you're a meat head. Dude, you're only 16. chill out. hosh.

Yes it was very helpful, as a matter of fact. This topic has gone well past it's life span. Bottom line: Don't. Same with webbing or rope used in a slackline setup. The gear is routinly put through forces higher then it's rated working strength. Just save up, in the case your allowance, and buy new ones. Look for the lucky meteor, at about $4, with a 24kn rating, you can't beat it.
