while I love The Clash (old) and Rancid (now), Fishbone, Chilli Peppers and fIREHOSE are my generation. Fishbone was the best. Their first albums were magical.

In reply to: Wow... Although I have to wonder how repitious they are, since it appears may of the cover titles are featured songs in the 3 albums that I have. well, Skeletons is a 'best of' Album.. but it looks like he took some of these songs as an album title and filled the rest of the space with mostly original stuff. What songs are repeated through the albums are always radically different from its earlier version. I think they enjoyed adapting the songs to new styles. I kind of thought of Boingo as a new age/ska type band, having such a huge horn section & all.. but the lyrics are frequently very punk in tone. When I'm in the mood for punk, I tend to go listen to Combat Rock.

How wrong were you? So far the discussion has poured into its third page. I never really cared for punk. It always seemed a little ghey. I was always a metal fan growing up. Long live the Phantom Lord.

Long live the Phantom Lord. Don't forget that punks were doing it hard and heavy when bands like Pantera were still wearing spandex with teased up hair, now some of those motherfuckers were effeminate. I like metal too though.

In reply to: In reply to: When I'm in the mood for punk, I tend to go listen to Combat Rock. 'Straight To Hell' is my favorite cut, followed by 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'. I'm particular to 'Sean Flynn', but 'Straight to hell' has to rank up there for me too. I think I've heard 'Should I stay or should I go' too often. The stations around here play that one all the time.

awww this thread takes me back to my highschool days :) Tgreene, just another reason I think you're swell (re: band selections and openness to all kinds of music that is 'punk') I still love Social D :) And good ol Henry Rollins, although some may not consider punk rock hehehhe blk

The second dude from the right looks like he's about to jack off the dude on the far right. And what's up with the second guy from the left. Twisted Sister was not a metal band. They were a big hair band. The difference is important to understand.

In reply to: Twisted Sister was not a metal band. They were a big hair band. The difference is important to understand. Get WILD WILD WILD!!! Ahhh.... poodle rock.... Ramones, Social Distortion, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Alice in Chains, Sex Pistols, as far as old stuff goes. Distillers are awesome, but I think I like the Offspring more.
In reply to: Don't forget that punks were doing it hard and heavy when bands like Pantera were still wearing spandex with teased up hair, now some of those f--- were effeminate. I like metal too though. Master of Puppets came out 25 years ago (26 this year), back when Metallica was playing decent music, and it`s fecking classic metal.

Crom.. where did this thing go so wrong? Oingo Boingo, Alice in Chains, Brian Eno, Talking Heads..? Christ on a crutch happily hobbling through hell. If you can even list those bands in this thread you wouldn't know what punk was if it spit on you, jumped off the stage, dry humped your sister and layed a size 10 upside your mullet holder. Damn, you people are aging poorly.

And I guess I'd take the Cramps off, since I've never actually heard them. edit: throw Cock Sparrer, Dead Kennedys, and Flogging Molly in there as well.
