That looks pretty sweet. I don't have the balls for a tattoo, I'll stick to my nipple rings. They're great to rappel from.

By the time you're 70, that owl's face is going to squarely cover your right ass cheek.

A tattoo!!! Now that's freakin original! And what is the meaning of such a big mouse eating bird? It's all cool man, if you like it...

They better not be those cheesy SMC aluminum rings -- they're not that strong, tend to wear badly, and are safe only in pairs (hmmm... that's a concept). I'm hoping you're using the uber-strong Fixe stainless steel rings -- bigger, heavier, better feel, and much safer. And while we're at it, be sure to wear a helmet while rappeling from whatever. I don't want to here about any accidents from unsafe and unprotected raps from wherever.

it always seems like a good idea, at the time, to get a huge owl tattooed on your back. don't get me wrong, i'm a fan of tattoos and have some discreet body art, but as a female a huge ass bird on the back is not going to age well. to each their own. if you're happy, that's all that counts

Damn, people. Kant, first, know that some of these people are total jackasses. Ignore. Beyond that I'm bummed that you needed support and didn't get it from some who should have known better. Too bad you looked for it in here, but hey, now you know. I didn't get to see the pic, but I hope you get your excitement back - I'm sure you put thought into it and chose this because it's something you want. And for the record, if you stay in shape you can flip off those other women who are so sure they'll be saggin and draggin. Be the exception. Here's your incentive to keep climbing :)

I saw the pic I thought it looked pretty cool. The last thing I'd worry about now is where it will be in 40 or 50 years. Nobody'd want to see it then anyways, no matter where it was.

You're Canadian and a rock climber and you don't have thick enough skin to take a little good natured ribbing in community? Are you kidding me? Don't act like such a pansy. Stand up straight with a little pride in your tat and tell all the naysayers to feck off if they don't like it. And put the goddamn pictures back up.

Thats a big owl! Unique though (at least i have never seen another owl tatt), and the main reason I don't have a tatt yet is that i haven't come up withanything i really like, and don't really want to get anyhting that i know someone else already has.... Last week someone in my RFS brigade hit an owl on the way home from training... broke a headlight. Didn't do good things to the owl either :(

I definitely like the tat. It is nice work and it says alot more than some of my friends who have gotten really generic shit tattooed on. I have wanted one for a while now, but I have yet to come across something that I connect with enough to get it permanently inscribed on my flesh. I like seeing other people who do though!

So far looks pretty cool. The shading's gonna make or break it for sure. Curious as to why it's off center.

the placement is pretty cool in that the curve of the wings will accentuate regular curves of the body. shading will make or break it too. make sure you get enough contrast in the head/neck or it will look like mush i just got my backpiece started too. just the outline at this point. for me the slight bit that went on my ribs really wasn't that bad , but it wasn't 'right' onthe ribs. the bit that crossed my spine was the worst, and going round my shoulder blade

I totally agree with HLB- if it bothers you that people gave you a hard time about your tattoo- you probably need to rethink why you got it in the first place. After I got my first tattoo (9 tattoos ago, and a half sleeve coming on Wednesday) my dad was so angry that he didn't talk to me for almost a week. But it's something I believe in, and something I love and want to express- 5 years later even- so that was his problem, not mine. He won't like my half sleeve, or the fact that I got another tattoo, and when I post the pictures on here I'm sure I'll get some detractors, but it's something I want and love and believe in, so I won't be bothered. If you love it, more power to ya! The work looks well done so far. Take good care of it and put sunblock on it- fresh tattoos fade fast if you don't protect them all the time from the sun.
