As I was saying-
Chossy, do you reckon that by being a little bit bendy, the BD picks give a wee bit more bite in wobbly torques then other picks?
Just a thought.
Also, how much to axes cost over there (money saving scheme in mind!)

Way cheeper to buy tools over here. I got my DDM Flys for $150 a piece when I bought them. The Taa-k's were more, $280 or something, but that was the first year they were out.
You know, while it would be nice to stick with the BD system (right now out of three sets of tools between Nathan and I they're all BD), I really covet the Nomics. Gawd those things are sexy.

Too bad money first goes to a new pair of boots. We'll see where we're at finacially after I pick up those.

Nomics are Damn Sexy tools! Love them!

Used ones pop up occationally out here dirt cheep. Typically form those deciding that leashless isn't for them.

You want me to keep an eye out for you?
I was going to keep an eye on the MEC gear swap page, but I'd be more than happy if you can get your hands on them before they landed there!

I'll ask around and see what I can drag up. Off season so mught take a while, but the deals out here can be increadible. Hell I got a brand new set of Grivel Racing Wings (ergo handle, replaced be the monster, Tech wing was replaced by the Taa-k-oons) for $240 for the set. They hadn't even been used once. They Retaied for over $260 a peice. Some deals are way better than that too.

Alas! no.
And no real taerz, either.
I realised perhaps that comment means more in the US then here.
Basically I meant stop being such a twat- dunno how someone who seems allright can get his nickers in such a twist about a few people having a giraffe.
Anywhoo, Didn't get to go biking today, but (if the other dude doesn't flake again) I'll be going tomorrow- so no A.M. post whoring from me to worry about.
Back to the ice- Does anyone else feel like they never get pumped in the upper body on steep ice? My calves always seem to be the limiting factor.
Anyone got good training to get rid of this?
(p.s. I heard rumurs that it could be my boots. This I don't want to believe. But do lightweight boots like the Freny's really put that much extra load on the calves?)
[sorry that ended up so long]

We mostly use only B-rated picks too.

Though I have B rated picks on 1 set of tools I mostly use T rated (typically filed down quite a bit, but not always).
There are only 2 sets of tools that I used for more than one season that I've never had to replace a broken pick. One set is DDM Fly's (7 years on those picks, though I do have a spare set), the other is my fist pair of Taak's 5 years on a single set of pick (the first 2 years was heavy on the mixed too. The first year with them I was able to get to the 5th or 6th bolt on Musashi! <---- Right before I pealed off on lead in the middle of a figure-4 and freaked myself out.
So that would almost get you to the roof?Tongue

If I only climbed fat ice my picks would last a long time too. The ice really doesn't get to thick around here and I always end up not checking one spot at the top of a route and of course that is the one place where the ice is only a 1/4" thick.

I like to keep my picks pretty sharp to. Though not as sharp as I used to. That was to sharp and they would mash even if I hit soft limstone.Crazy

I'm climbing in the Ghost tomorrow!
If that is supposed to make us jealous, it doesn't.

I wouldn't mind going back to put up routes though or to climb ice and drytool.

I love that to, but first a pair of regular boots that fit me better, then probobly some more screws, then a new pair of tools, and then maybe a set of fruit boots.

Not to mentions things like new ropes and such in that list too. Fruit boots are quite a ways off.
that doesn't seem quite fair, I mean Nathan has fruit boots.........why can't becca have fruit boots?

Chossy buy becca fruit boots now! Now!
I would buy her Nomics first.

Besides, I did well into M9 with my big clunky boots and sabertooth crampons. There are a lot of other things that can be improved upon before she gets the fruitbootz.

Who do you think she is, Doc?
