Sometimes I think mtbiking is more dangerous than rock climbing. Wink

I found an old video of my '00 RacerX in action.
http://www.petefagerlin.com/azvid.htm Scroll down to the 78mb vid labeled National- Phoenix, AZ. It's all at South Mountain Park in Phoenix, mostly of a section of the National trail called "the Waterfall". I'm in the orange jersey and green pack about 2:40 into it. For laughs, keep scrolling down to the 39mb vid with the same label. It's titled "Amazing Grace," and is a bunch of crash footage. (No one was seriously injured).

Gooseberry Mesa is definitly sweet! And so is Fruita, CO.

Gee, now I want to go ride my mtbike!

I'm not anti-pink or glitter, but I feel patronized when how we'll look is a bigger driving factor in gear design than how we'll perform.

I'll second that! Why is it so hard to find things in neutral earth tones? I 've wound up with a lot of black stuff as I'd rather that than pink, lavender, or seafoam, etc.

As an unintended consequence I look sort of like ninja when I head out to climb.

My bitch: why is it so hard to find a decent pair of pants.

My Prana Eva Canvas pants showed up last night from Steep and Cheap. I'm wearing them today and hating how they feel. Yes, the material has some strech to it, but that's no excuse to make them so tight on the ass and the thighs! (and they're a little loose at the waist).

They're ment to be climbing pants, they fit and feel like fasion pants. So my rant about women's clothing is how they try so hard to keep up with the fasion trends they miss the mark on making the pants very functional as well.

Bah, I'm looking forward to getting home and taking these pants off. Mad

I started climbing in boys board shorts to avoid the hassle and expense of women's trendy climbing pants. My knees look like crap from scraping the wall but I love the comfort.

doesn't the low crotch on the boys' shorts limit mobility and/or bug the crap out of you? i climb a lot in women's board shorts, but i can't really wear the men's.

also, i have an abhorrence for pants/shorts that sit above my hip bones unless it is so cold i'm wearing more than one layer.

Just an update on the belay slave today... I believe the two starcrossed pairs are now just tied together by individual figure 8s. They look like beach-combing mountaineers...I guess.

Carry on!

I am built like a 12 year old boy so I guess that helps. Wink Do they make pants with lightly padded knees that don't limit mobility?

I've actually had decent luck with Prana; I think their stuff varies VERY widely from one style to the next. I have a pair of the cargo capris (version 2005, probably) that have last a few years and have held up pretty well. And definitely not tight-fitting. I also got a pair of the Bliss Nylon capris on sale at REI over the winter. Pretty light material, but so far they've held up through lots of cragging days (wouldn't put them through too much roughness, however). They felt somewhat tight when I first got them, but stretched out over a few wearings and are now perfect. And with a drawstring waist, I don't have the waist-to-hip fit issues.

Okay, I dare you to sneak in with your chalkbag, and put a chalk handprint on climber boy's mannequin butt.....

Liz Clairborne owns Prana...nuff said. I've noticed a significan drop off in quality since the purchase.

KMart has the best climbing pants from my experience. Nuts to all these climbing brands cause that's what they suck.

I see nothing wrong with this. In fact, I wish more women's clothing came apart at the seams.

OK, OK, I'm leaving...
