Since I can't be bothered to create a new thread, I'll bump this one.
In reply to: Exactly. Guideline #1 is one of the great things about this site. Flaming, hate, & trolls have other sites to utilize. Those reasons are why I don't visit rc.com and rarely go to Supertopo. The gradual "rockclimbing.com-ification" of this site bothers myself and some others I have spoken with. If rc.com is what you want, then go there. As I said in my one contribution to the thread in question, it wasn't changing anyone's mind, and just seemed to make everyone involved (and SoAz climbers in general) look bad. I bet the folks at rc.com & supertopo (and boldering.com & the old rec.climbing) would love that thread. Maybe those who liked that thread should start up another one over there. You know, I started lurking over there more after signing up to respond to a regional question, and have to say that, despite what the users at MP think, it's the same old bullshit over there as here - same dumb climbing topics, arguments over style, discussions about gear, and half of the same users. As far as I can tell, it's nothing new, either. They do have a better search function but a more boring scummunity. The Taco is the only one with consistently interesting content, but the UI is so abysmal that I can't bring myself to wander over there unless it's a really slow day at work.

You're right - I should have said "the only one with occasionally interesting climbing content." I'd rather be punched in the nuts than read a TR here or at MP.

Every time I ever click on link to supertopo, I see that it leads to a thread of dozens of pages populated by the same old hasbeens. If I wanted that kind of bullshit, I'd stick in the BET.

I do like their route database better, but I get all warm and fuzzy here when the knives come out.

But clearly you haven't looked at the RC.com route database, the hiddnen gem in there is outstanding.

Good question. I've been doing it sans rope for a while, so I'll have to ask around. As for repetitive, do "your mom" jokes ever grow old? Sort of, but people still make them. There is a very similar route in central Minnesota that I was looking climb. It looks equally as sweet, but I can't find the GPS co-ordinates for it.

CLASSIC, do you mind if I pass that one along Arrogant Bastard. ROTFL
