the whole area is floating away. crazy times!!!

Other than Red Sox updates from my ESPN ap, I have no idea what's going on in the world.

So, to get this straight, Brazil is having a social gathering, Calgary has been separated from the mainland by an earthquake, and Kansas still, and always will, suck.

Is that about right?

banff/calgary area massive flooding from spring run off and rain. all the expensive homes are floating away in canmore, just outside of banff. main highway is closed through banff. the tourists are stuck in town, crazy lines in the grocery stores and price gouging. end of times.

and calgary is flooded

you should protest!

Zion tomorrow for 5 days. Should be a leisurely 2 1/2 hour drive to the RV park just outside the East entrance. Thanks Don for that recommendation.

Must-do activity suggestions needed for the wife & I; 3-4 mile round trip, nothing technical, blah blah. I would also like some ideas for more heinous pursuits for me to do solo. Is there a place like the Camp 4 bulletin board to troll for climbing partners?

Never did hear back from Laz about the blue master cam, which is weird, but maybe good news. Didn't need to sell after all?

Raining again today. Had a beautiful weekend with sun and mid-60s temps. Got outside for a little bit but mostly stayed inside painting the apt. also got some art work done.

Only a month away until the next exhibit. Need to produce two more paintings (I think) to be ready. Starting the next two projects soon after.

Also, I would recommend hiking up the Zion Narrows. From the end of the bus its a mile trail. From there you wander in and out of the stream for 1/4 mile. Then wade through the stream for quite a bit. You can go up as far as you want before turning around. Very cool. The wife went a short ways with the 2 younger ones. I went 1/2 mile past the end of the trail with the older boy. For a short section it was kind of deep, but slow moving. Pulling my day pack up kept it out of water, and my 11 yo son did fine. Must do.

You will want hiking sticks. Depending on how far you go, you may want specialized water shoes. Tennis shoes will be fine for a short hike, but a bigger hike you'll want better traction and support. There are a number of shops in town that will rent you what you need, including wetsuits, if you plan to go big.
I for one am wanting to go big. hopefully I'll get some time this Sept after I get the Axe. Smile
