Destination for Labor Day weekend trip needed. No So. Ill. The last two trips downt here made Mowz a very unhappy man. Ideas? Partners? I plan on leaving very early Thursday morning or late Wed. night to get good camping spots. Edit for spelling

The Red will be so packed for Labor Day weekend. It might be cool there because it has been a mild summer. Would anyone want to go to DL or maybe even Minnesota? There's a 10% chance I might be heading to J-Tree.

Greenpeace...er, um, space...yeah, man, not quite three years running (yet), but as packed as it's supposed to be, all that means to me is that you have to get started a little earlier to get on those ultra-classics that drive our imaginations. Dude, I'm in Grand Rapids, MI now! I decided that I'm going to give school another shot, so this is already my second week of class. Where are you and what are you doing this weekend?

Most likely, I will be at DL camping out with Maww. I think she tried to copy my name. Maww. Mowz. Too close to comfort. I will also be there with a climbing partner of mine named Justin. I will try to leave Thurs. during the day so that I can get a good spot.

I'll be up at DL this weekend.. 'bout all I can afford right now after just returning from the Black Hills (if I had my way, I just would turn right around and head back). Probably both Sunday and Monday, depending on what the weather ends up doing..

Ok! That sucked. I showed up at DL early to get a campsite but they were all full. So, monkeyarm (he hasn't posted for a while; we go way back) and I decided to just climb for the day. I have never been and thought it just rumor, but there is sandstone in southern WI. It was good, dry, hard sandstone too. Nothing soft and great to smear on. Well, Justin top-roped Curving Crack cleanly while I fell twice. Then we proceeded to attempt the 10c next to Curving Crack. I cannot recall the name of it right now. Afterwards, I got my second trad lead in. I led American Beauty Crack. I did not get the onsight, but I did get the redpoint. It was awesome. We ran into MAWW there as well. MAWW stands for Mad Ass White Woman. They got a campsite as soon as they showed up; bastards. It's all good. Monkeyarm's family bought pizza for us and it was good. That's it. No more to tell.

what up everyone... to those who showed up at the madness at miguel's this past weekend, it was good to see all of you who represented all that is the great midwest. i saw people from wisconsin, michigan and of course chicago. the weather was great, and although miguel's was busy, there are so many places to climb that everyone can be happy. all the usual crags were busy of course. to anyone who heads down there w/ a large group, try to dispurse the group or head to a less busy crag to avoid waiting and heavy traffic at the crag. i always hear the same stories during a busy weekend (there were so many people; i had to wait to get on a route; this climber was taking forever on a route). i'll probably head down there again sept. 17-19 w/ 2 other chicagoans. hope to see anyone else there. organic, where were you this weekend?

Hey homegirl I went to So. Ill. We stayed and camped at Jackson Falls all three days I was able to hit up some huge classics and a bunch of boulder problems. I did some great leads and have a sore calf muscle from some wicked slab climbs. They started bolting some more routes down there and cleaning some cracks, we even brought a huge brush to clean off some of the boulder problems, that place needs development! There as so many open lines and unclimbed boulders geesh I wish I had more time! Also met some crazy people down there I love So. Ill. because of the isolation and how everyone is laid back. Also Leslie I just paid my registration fee fr the Hound Ears Triple crown comp. are you going? Keep pullin' hard.

what's up ladsquared? you may not remember me, but i'm tha dan that was hanging out with rachel and her friends from a-hole--er, um, a-rock :). Great time down there, wasn't it? greenpeace, so when are we going climbing again? basically, when's the next time that you're going to be in the midwest, probably. trips west might be few and far between for me now that school's starting. quickclips, where the heck have you been? I haven't seen you all summer. do you still climb? kidding, bro. are you going to Rocktoberfest? anyone been to the new river gorge? i might be getting in on a trip there next month. suggestions? spors PS-I'm not sure whether or not I like the Red--after three trips and three injuries, it might be time to rethink my climbing strategy. that, or else quit altogether and take up something safe, like basket-weaving, or compulsive thumb-twiddling.

New River Gorge is awesome. If I had to recommend only one climb, it would have to be New Yosemite. Hope that you are very confident on your jams. The crack is an almost perfect break; clean and smooth on both sides with very little jaggedness. The crack is not perfectly vertical though, but close. Have fun.

yo mono, what kind of injuries have you incurred? the red is way too awesome to stay away from (overhanging pockets! power endurance!):D if you do go out to the new, i hope you and your climbing partners have good weather. i keep hearing about the rain over there. in between trips, you may want to rethink your training strategy in order to keep those pesky injuries away. being the stubborn person that i am, i continue to climb on an overuse injury in my left middle finger. i really need to find something else to do on my non-climbing time. i've been thinking about getting a road bike...hrmmm....
