I dont like the forum ranking things "boulderer" is the lowest rating (16 topics in a forum) and I think that making boulderers the lowest class isnt right. I am a boulderer and we are definitely better than certain climbers. In general we also care about keepin the rocks in good condition and not being stupid or doing stupid things. I think that they should change this rating system. I am a boulderer (both in real life and on the website) and the rating system is dumb. It needs to be changed.

kinda outa the blue so to speak, but o well...i concur. i dont really care whats the least on the thing and it doesnt bother me what is. it just doesnt seem that important, but i guess on the subject hes right. then again if it is changed (unlikely) then whoever is then on the bottom will probably post exactly the same thing. giant unhappy circle. everyone always has a problem with something. ~pz all! rock on!

I could care less about the ratings but I do think that some people shun bouldering. We are not all in a competition. People boulder cause they like it. It does not mean they are a wimp or can't take risks. There will never be a day they I put myself above someone else just cause I can lead trad on multi pitch or something. As for me making requests, I would hope someone would take them into consideration. But I won't demand someone does. If I pay dues for this website then I would like to add my input but as for now iam just happy with what this website offers. The ability of communication here is awesome. I have become better and more motivated in climbing because of this website.

I just figured that it's a helluva lot less expensive to start bouldering than it is to start, say, aid climbing. And "like sands through the hour glass" my money will go to the climbing shops and my rack will grow, and as it grows, so too will my number of forum posts and my ranking will surely change accordingly. So what's the big deal, eh? PS: Does your weekend last from Friday to Saturday like mine instead of Saturday to Sunday? I hope so, otherwise get back to work!

mtngeo, that's a "typo"... there should be a "sit starter" or a "crashpad squatter" rank before the "boulderer" one, or maybe a "toproper" or a "pig" or just a "nOOb"!

In reply to: I am a boulderer and we are definitely better than certain climbers. In general we also care about keepin the rocks in good condition and not being stupid or doing stupid things. Did you really just say this? From my experience's, thus far, boulder's are the worst "land steward's" in the climbing community(The French being a close second). When's the last time you've ever heard of a Traditional climber talk about cutting down tree's that are in the way? I've seen boulder's do it on numerous occasion's! When's the last time a wall climber threw ton's of small rocks onto a major trail, because they were "in the way". I know a trail in the Flatirons that I can hardly run now because Boulder's didn't want their landings cluttered. I could go on but you get the point. Now I knolw it's like anything else, you'll always have some good and some bad...but if you're going to make generalization's, then you'd better get your facts straight. josh

i love how as all of you are trying to insult him and talk sh!t about him, at the same time you're boosting his user rating like 1000 points by posting all the damn replies and viewing your replies to see if someone has replied to your replies. i'll almost guarantee you that he just stopped looking at this forum after his third post. the posts were just there to give you something to fight about and comment on. so excuse me if i'm mistaken, but in the process of trying to bring public view of him down, you all did just the opposite by boosting his user rating.  good job everyone! ~pz all! rock on!

In reply to: there should be a "sit starter" or a "crashpad squatter" rank before the "boulderer" one, or maybe a "toproper" or a "pig" or just a "nOOb"! i agree with "toproper".. that should be below boulderer.. not above.. then again.. it does require a harness.. a rope.. a carabiner or two.. a belay device.. sling to set-up the anchor.. etc.. so maybe the rankings are all based on financial status? but in that case, boulderers should still be above top-ropers, cos weed isnt cheap these days!! (my source of comedic inspiration comes from The Great Dingus)

i think it is on the low end of the scale because it requirs the least amount of start up money, not beacuse one form of climbing is better than another.
