hey guys bad news. i just talked to a ranger on the angeles national forest. this might be the last weekend where one can climb at williamson and horseflats devils punchbowl and any other climbing areas in the angeles national forest. 80% of the forest will be closed due to the VERY high fire danger. the only areas that will be open will be hwy 2 for commuters and pyramiad lake. the ranger was saying that they will probably even ticket cars that stop along hwy 2. all of the trails are closed and those caught on the trails could be fined up to 5000 dollars and or imprisonment. I know it sucks this is just what i have heard so far as of this morning. Good luck everyone. i will be trying to climb at stoney point, malibu creek and if temps arent that bad go to echo cliffs.

as of right now, that is what i have been told from when i talked to the ranger at devils punch bowl, he said that all of those areas will be closed, but on the forest closures forum, a guy said williamson will still be open, my only guess is that someone should try and go there and or talk to a ranger at chilaho or clear creek. As for me i have to take 2 weeks off of climbing since i split my heel open on saturday night and had to get 10 stitches. Would love to go climbing with someone when my heel gets better though. I think Echo cliffs might start getting nice soon. Hope everyone is doing well.

Being back in town after so many months, and willing to go to Williamson, I though to revive this old thread... How's Williamson these days? Very crowded? I'll probably go there one of the next days!
