I'm considering a set of Trango Flex Cams...any feedback form the oh so quiet, conservative, never-ones-to-rock the boat crowed here at RC.com?

I've had a set for several years and they are great. Only negative is the larger 2 sizes are unstable.

Med and Large sizes are great, but the little ones suck. I like them for their light weight and easy-to place design.

Big thumbs up. I have a set of the new ones 2-7. I'm quite confidient in their placements...don't seem unstable to me. But, obviously conditions vary, so I'm not surprised that other people have different opinions. So far, anyway, I've thought they are great.

No, its not you. I went back and forth several times before figuring this out.

What is with the poll?

The new cams are different from the old ones, are you asking specifically about the new ones?

I am asking about the new ones...and as for my poll...it was just a question, just a question. If I had to justify everything that comes out of my mouth, and ensure that there was a quantifiable reason for every word that I speak...I would just... SHUT UP!

So any new feedback, i'm starting a job at a gear store that stocks them and was wondering if their worth it?

I have a new set and so far, like them well enough. They are, as the name inplies, nice and flexy. Smooth action and nice thumb loops. The smallest 5 sizes, with the directly opposed cams, I've played with a lot. Trango claims when just one side is placed they, "still have enough strength to catch a reasonable fall." I'm not sure what a "reasonable fall" exactly means but I've stuck them in places where I never thought I'd get anything and gave them a good bounce, and all is well. If you can get a good deal on them I'd go for it.

Last time I set one, the cams inverted when it was cleaned... it took us about 10 minutes to clean. Big thumbs down. I only climb with cams with stops now (see BD or Metolius).

The new ones do have cam stops. I just got a set, I've only placed the largest size once, but it seemed stable.

Fully agree. I think they are more appropriately called Trango Deathtraps... And I haven't mentioned the fact that the springs seem too weak and give them a tendency to walk, augmenting the lobe inverting problem. The only positive I have found about these cams is that when you sell them on E-Bay, you can end up getting more for them then you bought them at REI for.

THE TRANGO FLEX CAMS ARE AWESOME!

My two business partners got the new set with the cam stops and they have almost as much side flex as the WC zeros! I got stuck with the new WC Technical Friend set, which is cool, but I'm jealous of the flex cams. To be honest though, WAIT! Wait until the MAX cam comes out in a couple of months. IT IS NUTS! Black Diamonds patent ran out on the double axle camalot and Trango improved it! It has much more expansion than the camalot does. Go to the link below to check out the MAX CAM in action:

http://tradrack.netfirms.com/...6_66&products_id=314

or to Trango's Website:
http://www.trango.com/pages/moremax.php

Personally I think the Max Cam is FAR more revolutionary (& Practical) than the Metolius Super Cam, OR the Omega Pacific Link Cam.

Oh, I'm posting the above on the NEW flex cams.

I have nothing to say on the old without Cam Stops.
Here is the Max Cam in action, SEE how the axles pivot on each other, way more squeez than the BDs.
