We are planning a trip to the Key Hole Route July 16th - can anyone give me a conditions report?

I haven't been up there personally. However, from Lumpy Ridge it still looks like there is a little snow up there. It will probably be crossing small snow fields at points. Check climbingboulder.com, I think that they have a conditions section. You may get a better idea then. Ask this guy. He is supposed to be doing longs today or something. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...t.php?UserID=sharpie

Was up there 10 days ago. Hikers were not attempting the route it was still considered a technical route. You still needed axes and crampons and ropes. Call the park they will give you an update.

Was there on July 3rd. Hiked to Chasm Lake. Going back up for summit attempt on the 15th. Conditions were given as dry to the trough...then winter mountaineering conditions with Ice Axe and Crampons recommended, expected meltoff late July to early August.
