Well i came up with a solution:
http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=57109

still full strength an all...

the trick to this is mainly Patience.......secondly, my technique, i threaded the Cord through the webbing but not all the way, i left about 2 inches of webbing 'hollow' to help guide the cord though the peice of pro (but it all depends on the size of hole and how snug you want it...

On the # 9 CLOG HEX I used 3/4" Climb-Spec Webbing with the cord (Very snug)

On the two SMC Taper-Locks (# 9 and # 8) I used 1/2" Mil-Spec Webbing with the Cord (snug on the #8, loose on the #9...PERFECT!)If you don't know why i SLung the nuts this way , then you don't know a thing about OUT SCHOOL FOO'!!!!!!!!

There's tons of different sizes of webbing (and then Mil or Climb Specs)....so there are alot of options....I've never heard of people using webbing BUT i have heard about people using PVC/vinyl tubing and the such but that "could" work great or there could be a margin of that 1/2 mm and you won't get it as snug as you want.

You can also strip the sheath off a length of old 7 or 8mm perlon cord and use that. Been doing that for years.

ive seen other folks sling new age cord through old age holes by threading a bit of plastic tubing through the holes to fill them out. (the transparent stuff, comes in different diameters, cheap)

does it actually matter? i dont think it kinks the cord any less. does it just make a hex less likely to slide all over the place on the cord?

happy to have new age holes for my new age cord,
anthony

fit does matter......if its loose, that causes wear weakening your cord and thus: Placement Failure
