just wondering what everyone's idea of a fully functional hangboard is,for everyone who owns one what are features on them that you don't use or u think are pointless and what features work. And what would you like to see on one.

I have the metolius simulator and it by far has the most features. The thing I would like to see on it, is a pinch. Also there is a laurus lapizzi(sp?) board that has t nut holes so you can add your own holds. However with a simulator i fixed this problem, just drill holes for T-nuts in the board that you mount the simulator to a voila! you can add your own holds. That makes the metolius simulator the ultimate hangboard.

Usefull features:
Pockets of various size
Edges of various size
Jugs
Sloper
Pinches
Once all the holds start feeling big then just add weight.

I totally agree with Korntera, pinches are often negleted on hangboards but the solution offered (I did exactly the same thing with the same board) is effective, simple and easy to do.

I'm going to have to disagree with that statement, although what he did was just as good as getting a board with all the different kinds of holds. But I got a Entre Prise Hangboard from Ebay and am very very pleased with it. I did a lot of research as to what board had the most diverse set of holds on it and came out with this. The link is a picture of the board I've got in the backyard all nice and freestanding. But I agree pinchers are the much needed. One thing that I don't like about my board which could actually be my own lack of sloper strength but the slopers on my board a practically impossible.

For 2 arm hangs, the board should have
3 levels of difficulty for 3,2,1 finger pockets
3 levels of difficulty for edges (ideally; 3/4 pad, 1/2 half pad, 1/4 pad)
3 levels of slopey edges (all 2 pads, 20, 40 and 50 degree slope)
1 pair of crimp pinches (1/2 pad)
3 jugs (2 outside, 1 middle)

I had to create this board

I have the same board and feel the same way about the slopers--impossible! Maybe if they were more textured?

I have the same board as the two guys in previous posts and the slopers aren't really that hard. I dunno, i find them just the right angle. If u need more texture on the wood board, just use sandpaper, as rough as possible.

I've got the Metolius Pure Force, and it's a pretty good board with lots of features.

It's got all the bases covered with jugs, slopers, 2- and 3-finger pockers, and various edges. I also like the texture.

My problem though is that I'm 5'11" with long arms and the board is so short across that my shoulders get tired far before my arms get really pumped.

thnx for replys...quick question about finger pockets, could you use one pocket on each side of board and it's up to user how many fingers you put in it or how far in you put your fingers in to make it deep finger pocket or shallow.I see some companies put single finger pockets and 2 finger pockets on their boards, then you're restricted to only putting 1 or 2 fingers in these pockets,if you put one deep/long/edge/pocket that you can fit 4 in you're not limited to amount of fingers or how far you put them in,it's entirely up to user.Would you guy's agree.
