Dirtineye's question about 'what do you do with 42 quickdraws' got me thinking. What's the most bolts you've clipped on a single climb/pitch? Don't count the anchors, but continuous climbing linkups are ok. I think I did a .10d called Dimples at Owens that was 16 QDs. I also linked two pitches of a .10c, Swahili, at Auburn that was I think 17 or 18 QDs.

The Imaginator at Mtn. Charleston. First pitch 17bolts. The total count for the route is somewhere near 40 bolts. 380 feet of perfect grey/blue limestone!!!

The answer to this queston seems to be not how many bolts you may have clipped put should be what a group of cowards you all are. Maybe someone should ask the queston how few bolts have you clipped?

Maybe someone should ask the queston how few bolts have you clipped? On a sustained 165 foot long 5.10d pitch in Toulumne, the answer would be two--and I'm talking quarter inch fuckers. Curt

Maybe someone should ask the question how few bolts have you clipped? Obviously treyfrancisclimbs has never climbed an over bolted climb, or a climb with a bolt that would deck you on a ledge. This is what scares me about pure sport climbers, they don't have to think. I've only done a few leads, no trad yet. But even I, a mother, has skipped a few bolts. I'm interrupted enough in my life, I don't need a bolt doing so too. Especially when I just clipped one. Oh, The number of bolts I have clipped or skipped. . . Sorry, I'm out to climb, not count bolts. Climb on!

lewisiarediviva, You are right. I have never climbed an overbolted route. Or a route with the first bolt at 30 feet where if you blew the clip you would bounce off a ledge and then 25 to the ground. I have never climbed a route without bolts placing only gear. In fact, I am such a pussy that I have to clip into two hangers bolted to my desk when I am at work so I don't accidentally lean back too far and tip my chair over. That is the simple beauty of this site. You have people who ask a simple question expecting to get answers that are straightforward. You have those who feel that since said question is the polar opposite of what they believe it is their duty as an aficionado of the sport to embark upon an instant and often poignant tirade pointing out the stupidity and ludicrousness of not having the same opinion. Then we have those who have diarrhea fingers and respond with some stupid assed inane babbling that has no bearing on climbing, or often times anything relating to the english language. And then we have people like lewisiarediviva who automatically ass-u-me that they have a working knowledge of my innermost thoughts, feelings, climbing experiences, fears, worries, frustrations, turn ons, wardrobe and sexual preferences, head circumference, and illnesses based solely upon a one line response to a thread and a few words on a profile description. The internet is a beautiful thing.

Most has to be on Infinate Bliss, Really too many to count on 20+ pitches of sport, wow. The first 5 pitches alone had at least 8 bolts each. expand that and you got more than 100 clips. Well maybe not least bolted but Snakedike has got some great runouts, 50 - 75 feet between bolts. You get so used to not cliping gear that you almost miss some of the bolts. I wonder how the routes are down in El Potrero Chico, they have got some nice tall limestone. I think a search would yield what the longest sport route in the world is dont really rember though i think Bliss is up there in the states.

I've clipped 22 on a pitch (counting anchors) in Cayman Brac, and 3 on a pitch in the Needles that was slightly shorter. On the route in Cayman Brac I would have popped off into the ocean if I blew the second clip (big deal, who cares). On the route in the Needles I would have decked if I came off near the anchors. The next pitch, which my partner led, was identical (possible to revisit the bottom anchor if you come off just before the top anchor). I've led plenty of pitches on gear (who hasn't?) but I have to admit that face routes, with only or mostly bolted protection and huge runouts, scare me the most of any climbs I have been on. And one other thing... Big pussies like Peter Croft also sport climb -- a handy reminder for all youse trolls. When you freesolo the routes in question, then you can spray.

28 on Wolf Will Survive at Potrero. I 2nd the first pitch and led the 2nd and 3rd pitches for my longest linkup. For just pure lead I think I used 20 on the 2nd and 3rd, but I skipped the 2nd anchor and the first bolt after it, and one or two others. Met a guy that simu-climbed the 14 pitches of Space Boys, the entire thing, using like 30 quickdraws, with most pitches they would only clip the anchor. Crazy!
