I finally got a ride!!!

Last weekend I became the proud owner of a 1992 Subaru Legacy. Yes, she's old, but she runs well for her age, insurance is way cheap, and really she's the perfect climbing bum car. I look forward to many climbing trips with her. Particularly right now, visions of brand new Vipers and Daks ice climbing are dancing in my head. Mmmmm....

I love the climbing life. :D

Congrats on the climbing-bum wheels!
I'm always looking for more ice partners and I have a spare set of Vipers. Quarks are my choice for now! If interested, PM me. I can meet you up North(Daks, VT,NH) or you can meet me in the Catskills or Gunks(if it's in  )..

And...this IS NOT a pick-up line! I read your profile and I probably can't handle you unless tied up!

If you wanna tie in with me on rock first, I'm always looking to get out...usually mid-week!

-Jason :D

Jason-
I'm usually in class during the week, but weekends I can usually make work. Definitely looking to climb whatever ice exists this winter. I'm pretty new to ice, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask if you plan to go do your dream climb or something. But I'm all up for learning!

Of course you'll keep rope- gunning for me, I'm the only chick who's belayed you in a bikini top.

You jsut better watch out though- one of these days I won't need a rope gun anymore and if you're not nice now, you may find yourself out of a job

Yo betty are you going to keep wearing that bikini top into October? If so, we'd love to meet you. The cold shouldn't be a problem for a tough girl like you, in fact I expect it should be entertaining.

Why would they count for extra points? With no tits, they're barely distinguishable from little boys.....unless that's what you're into Charlie.

How was everybody's weekend? I was lucky enough to have an extra long extended one! I didn't do a lot of climbing though...and I need to rectify that next time I am out.

Friday I got upstate late afternoon and hiked out to Lost City. Did a little bit of bouldering. What a beautiful place. I can't wait to get back out there.

Saturday I climbed topropes at Peterskill. Sunday, I helped with trail work and afterwards went scouting for a "ride" at the Trapps, to no avail.

Monday I had a short day and though I only seconded one pitch of Ribs, I did enjoy myself quite a bit. Here is Teddy, finding a new use for the guidebook.

I went to Little Falls on Sunday and headed over to the Wind Walls, where I'd never been. They were short and there was some poison ivy around the base, but the climbs had some good quality.

I took a lead fall trying Aunt Smears, ripping out my #5 swedge and landing on my belayer, then the short boulder that he was standing on. My foot got hurt in the process. I tried the route again, but couldn't manage it the second time either.

Our visit was cut short, as the local police came to kick us off the cliff for trespassing. Apparently its illegal to climb there.

I spent the rest of the day on the Island, doing more talking than climbing.

Was this the last nice weekend of the season? I hope not.

happiegrrrl - I think I saw you walking yer dog at The Trapps on sunday. I was out shooting some vids along the road.

Jackflash - Where is the Wind Walls? I went to Moss Island on saturday. The place was a friggin zoo. Some F'ers almost dropped a rope on me while I was soloing some face. I finally checked out the back of the island..wow..there's a few good problems back there and some of the formations are just stunning.

Grinspoon - Did you have a tripod stuck in a bouldering pad, and were with a group of boulderers by the Uberfall? If yes, then I remeber noticing you and your group.

The Wind Walls are just across the bridge on the left. The top of them looks like any old road cut. You get to the bottom by taking River Road, which is at the first light you come to when entering town.

We got caught when the cop saw our cars and saw one of us climbing from River Road. The top of the cliff is also highly visible from the highway, bridge and a good portion of the town, so setting top-rope anchors is risky as well. I got threatened with arrest, so, if you go, hope the police are in a good mood.

They did make it clear that the Dihedrals are out of city limits, however, which meant they couldn't stop us from climbing there, though the railway security or state police still could.

Have you done the Crucifix recently? We have permission from the landowner to climb there, and I put a rap anchor on top last week.

Happiegrrrl - Yep, that'd be me.
Jackflash - I've never gotten close to the Crucifix cliff, I've only seen it from a distance..I'll have to check it out. That sucks about the police dude..damn. For a good laugh, check out the maze of handicap ramps they installed near the lock..there had to be a better way to do that..
