any beta on bouldering around reno? i've heard of a couple places, like purgatory, washoe boulders and doyle. not sure how to find any of these places though. just looking for some places to climb this winter, that i don't have to drive 3 hours for. directions would be helpful. or your recommendations on any of these spots. thanks

supertopo.com just put out a new Tahoe bouldering guide and there are a few Nevada spots listed. I'm sure that could get you started.

Don't know about Doyle but Washoe's good if you like hard roofs and guano, purgatory is great at shredding your tips and leaving you staring at the crags above. Anybody know if the face of the central pillar (at purgatory) has been climbed yet? I'm itching for it if anyone wants an adventure...

the purgatory area is super extensive. j tree style rock. i would definitely recommend it if you live in reno. because i live in south lake tahoe... its not that much further to drive to bishop.

i really like the washoe boulders. most of the problems are ok but the problems on the tsunami boulder are exceptional.

as mentioned above, i have some info on these areas in my new bouldering eBook. http://www.supertopo.com/packs/tahoeboulder.html

there will be more info in the print book this spring.

there are also some other areas areound reno, the party boulders, and one other. not exceptional spots but worth checking out. the beta on those areas is in the free Purgatory download that is referenced above
