Red Rocks Las Vegas. Tons of multi pitch below 5.9. Good temps that time of year too, a little chilly at night though. Cheers

Asheville, North Carolina. Or anywhere in the Southeast. Tennessee is good too. Crisp, great friction, and Southern...best climbing season is anytime but summer. http://www.foxmountainguides.com

While the others are pretty obvious, you might consider Boulder/Denver area. True, there may be snow, but the conditions in Eldorado Canyon are hard to beat in the winter season. There are many shirtless/Tshirt climbing days during those two months in particular.

vegas is awesome for easy trad climbing, say 5.4 to 5.7 and beyond. long fun routes. the weather could be great or not so great at that time of year but if it's too cold to go back into the canyons, you can always do some sport climbing as long as there's a bit of sun. and the weather will be iffy at all of the places mentioned. vegas has plenty to do if it's too cold or wet to climb...

Red Rock and JTree, hands down. Less than three hours apart, they make a great combo trip for any trad climber. However, you may find Red Rock to be more friendly in the way of easy trad than JTree at first- those climbs always take me a couple laps to get used to the rock. Fly to Vegas, warm up on sandstone, then head to JTree to tick off some tougher one pitch routes!

Am I missing something? Why is everyone quoting airfare from Dulles? The guy's profile says he's from Canada.

If flying is an option, the Vegas/Joshua Tree combo sounds pretty kickass. If you're just driving, head to Chattanooga. Lots of good southern exposure. Also, NC has some great winter climbing - Rumbling Bald, Stone, Looking Glass and Whitesides. As far as the weather goes, western NC and eastern TN are hit or miss in December.

A huge thanks to all. You are asome. This thread I have made just so I can find out where is best to go. So if I may ask few more questions: Where is the best place to stay at Red Rocks? Where is the best place to stay at J. Tree ? Any campsites with showers or cheap hotels/motels ? What guide books are best that I could I get for each area ? Thanks again for all your help Wojtek P.S. I might need a partner for that trip, but I will make a proper thread in partners section.

well if you go to jtree there are about a half dozen campgrounds in the park. the most popular for climbers is hidden valley. you can get a shower in town at the coyote corner across from nomads. there's also some motels in joshua tree and yucca valley if you want to go that route. you said you were looking for 5.9's and under so a good guide book would be "the trad guide to joshua tree: 60 favorite climbs from 5.5 to 5.9" by winger another good guide to have would be the "rockclimbing joshua tree guide" by vogel
