I'm driving to potrero in late january from tucson. its a straight shot on 10 to laredo and we'd love to find some fun areas along the way to break up the drive.

im having trouble digging out good beta online, and dont know folks from those areas. also- the guidebooks are hard to come by at the moment.

we're planning on cochise and hueco, and i've heard about the organs, although dont know where to find good beta, but is there anything else we should check out on the way?

thanks,
anthony

im sure that cochise and hueco could keep us busy for plenty of time, but i was very curious about any lesser known areas that might be on the way. i know my way around cochise, and have heard good things about hueco, but is there some crag with a superclassic on it somewhere near 10? something that is a great day climbing but normally you woudlnt do it if it werent on the way? a tower somewhere? a neat hike, even?

i see you're from NM. is there anyone you know i should email and ask?

happy new year,
anthony

If you want something different, check out city of rocks near Deming

Depending on how far you want to drive out of your way, you could go to Penasco Springs, like the Bachar Boulders in CA but less sharp:

It's around exit 100 off I-25

There's also Bob Murray's old sandstone areas The Jumble and The Labyrinth, but I haven't found them yet.

The Catwalk in the Gila is a unique hike near Glenwood, as well as some Hot Springs.
The Florida mountains South of Deming are an interesing rocky, steep, abrupt set of hills with tiny antelope called Ibex.
The Organs have Sugarloaf with some mulitpitch routes but I have no beta for you. I will pester my buddy and see if he'll contact you.
I'll be in Hueco the last weekend of January, so maybe I'll see ya there.
