Any other extra-booty-licious chicks out there who get frustrated with gravity's stronger-then-normal pull on your posterior???

Some days I feel like I could climb harder if only I were skinnier and more petite. But I'm just imagining things, yeah????

I guess I'm fairly thin, but I've got a bigger frame. I'd love to stay under 150lbs (maybe 140, 145?) but honestly I don't know if I could get too much lighter than I am right now and keep my muscle.

I too wish some days I could be petite and light, crank out those boulder problems! Perhaps this is a reason I tend to gravitate towards route climbing....trad especially.

But at the end of the day we've got what we've got. The short petite girls wish they had the reach that I have, while I fool myself into thinking that they have the superiour body type. The grass is always greener, ya know.

The best way to get rid of all that "junk" is running! For faster results, do an hour on the step mill (continuous escalator). Just read a mag and listen to your iPod and you'll forget how tired you are.

Trust me, it works. Those boys will love those humps, those humps, those humps!

My 9 year old daughter started singing that when the song came on in Newbury Comics one day. I told her she's not old enough to have junk in her trunk.

I'm in good shape. I run, snowboard, do pilates, etc etc. Just because you are in shape does NOT mean you lose the junk in your trunk. I am a former gymnast (not sure if this is the true cause for this or not) and have strong (meaning thick) legs and a nicely round booty. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my butt. But it does make overhanging routes so much harder when the majority of your weight is in your lower half.

I was bouldering this weekend and was working on this overhanging problem with a funky mantle at the end. Along comes this thin woman with virtually no butt and skinny legs and cruises it, no problem. I still have yet to send it. Thing is, she had problems with another problem I was working on earlier (slightly highball, balancey and slopey) that I had a much easier time with.

Moral of story, we all have different body types and every body type has its own limitations. Love the body your in! :D

Personally I'd rather have a harder time on overhung routes than to have no butt. Give me thin & crimpy all day and check out my booty-liciousness in my jeans at night.

How can the boys "love those humps" if you've whittled them away to nothing running on a treadmill???

If I don't have an iPod, can I not "get rid of all that junk"?

There is a certain genetic factor is all of this. Last year I lost 10 lbs and now I'm reside around the 140 lbs mark. My ass did get *a little" smaller. But like I said, due to a strong genetic component, it ain't going to get much smaller.

I'm not trying to get rid of it, I'm just trying to make peace with it.

For years I thought someone was following me around...then I realized it was just my arse! :o

Some of my girlfriends call it "soccer butt". I call it genetics.
I've had this rump roast long before I started playing ball.

There are times I would prefer to have less. But I got what I got. And yes, it comes in handy on the slabby stuff.

I just wish it wasn't such a chore to find a pair of jeans that have a tad bit more room in the rear.

Hey ladies - sorry to burst the bubble. I got the extra "junk" in the trunk - I'm pretty petite, except in the backside (5'4", 100-lbs). I've been distance running since I was 8 years old. As I got older, the mileage increased. I would consider myself a strong runner, mileage and speed, but the booty just won't burn off unless I log some serious mileage. I log about 35-40 miles a week at a pretty decent pace but its still big back there!

The only way I can burn some of it off is doing an occasional "ultra". I was able to shave a bit off and keep it off on a 50 miler I did last year - but not sure this is the best method to work the booty off.

I've been told that [slow] squats would well if you want to trim down that area. Having said all that - body size and proportions are probably dependent on the DNA, so maybe what works for others just won't work for me!

Yes, the iPod is magical for those gym rat days on a treadmill. Anything cardio is good and helps balance out the bulkiness climbing can add, but of course this depends on genes. I take a sports conditioning class that feels very similar to adult P.E. I've had great results and its fun too!

I've been running, biking, and swimming, and weight training and climbing, and I still got a big ass & thighs thanks to menopause and genetics. It's frustrating as hell, because it just happened in the past two years.

Must be time to cut back on the vino...

I run a lot - I have a nice firm butt and you can crack walnuts on it; it didn't whittle away. That said, I think this is becoming a thread about how we all spray on how good our ass looks ...

I didn't say an iPod was necessary; I said it was helpful.

Genetics play a factor, but you'd be surprised at how much weight isn't genetics.

And for those running outdoors, although it makes you susceptible to attackers. I've been quite a gym rat with winter and my ankle injury. :(

The class sounds fun and interesting ... I miss P.E.

I too have a big booty but I find that I have a tendency to also stick it out at the wrong time.

Once I was climbing at the gym and a guy who was encouraging me scream out "stick you butt in it's always out and throws you off." He was totally right and I never realized it before. Then I also realized that I wasn't using all my core strength to glue me closer to the wall.

I always think of that when I'm climbing now...whether my rump is sticking straight out or tucked in close to my body. When it's not sticking I climb way more solid. So tuck that junk in!

I've got a sizable booty for my frame too and it was dragging me down so to speak for a while.

I was at the gym once and working on a tough problem when a guy friend who was watching me scream out "Becky, stopping sticking out your butt...use your core strength." I totally did what he said it made a world of difference. He told me that I always stick my butt out. Hun! I had no idea I did that.

Now I always think about my butt and sucking it in with my core to get me closer to the wall/rock. So tuck that junk in!

What you gonna do with all that junk?
All that junk inside that trunk?
I’m a get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
What u gon’ do with all that ass?
All that ass inside them jeans?
I’m a make, make, make, make you scream
Make u scream, make you scream.
Cause of my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely lady lumps, check it out!

So long as you don't mind having your eyes bug out of your head, have all your muscles waste away, and having your first heart attack at age 28.

I've never heard of that song either.

Looking through the thread titles on the first page here, there are at least 6 threads expressing varying degress of dissatisfaction with physical self (breasts, overall figure, arms, body fat percentage, weight, and now butt). Just an observation.

Will women ever become less preoccupied with body image? (I'm guilty too.)

Sigh.

you missed out on nothing. that song is in the lead for the "worst song in the history of ever." yes, i've said that a million times. yes, i will say it a million more.

PS There is no way to target fat on any specific part of your body. crunches will not target the fat on your abs, squats will not target the fat on your butt. the fact that squats arent really aerobic exercise and will therefore by themselves have little impact on any fat, period, doesnt help. What exercises like squats do is tone [and maybe increase mass?] those muscles, which will give the booty fat a nice framework to lay over.

All you can do is lower your overall body fat percentage and hole shit slims down in the order you hope. me, personally, in the event that my body fat % fluctuates, i lose boob first.
