Ok so I'll to the point about this. I have been climbing over a year now. The whole reason I got into climbing was to do routes. Be it trad, sport, single or multi pitch you name it I just love the idea of getting up on a wall and the accomplishment of climbing it. I know in Georgia bouldering is huge! But to be honest, it's not my thing. And all the amazing people I have met climbing the past year love it. So do to what was available I started bouldering and just got to a point where I wasn't willing to try certain things or had no desire to top out. I've realized that the fact that I have been climbing a year and still have only done maybe 2-3 routes bothers me! It's the the type of climbing I love and the kind I want to do. I should know how to place gear, set up a top route, sport climb, etc.... So I have decided that I need to met people that I can start doing routes with. I have done a sport route so I am familiar with it, but other than figure eights, and belaying i don't know much else about route climbing. So I am on here to meet some people who would be willing to let me tag along and join them climbing. Because I am obsessed with the sport, you are guaranteed that if I start climbing with you that I am going to really want to learn and be a good climbing partner. So basically I am looking for climbing partners, email me/message me if you are interested. I most also include this: I am not looking for someone to hit on me, I just want to make friends to climb with. Only reason I say that is b/c I know there aren't a ton of girls in the sport so I have experienced the climbing partners who are climbing with you for the wrong reasons. I am actually in a happy relationship and I am just looking for some new buddies to climb with and learn from! I hope to hear from so new climbing buddies soon!! -Lisa

That all sounds great!!! Getting on a wall is a great way to get away from the boulderers, that's for sure. My advice is for you to move to California and then start looking for partners. If you are in school, you should just save up money and come to Cali and bum around Camp 4 until you find someone willing to teach you stuff. Until then how about some pullups and heavy construction work. That's all you need to be able to do for wall climbing I've heard. I would offer to teach you, but my leading limit is easy 5.4 handcrack and I don't know how to sport climb. Just never could fit into the spandex to even start learning. TRADitionally yours and Good Luck!, Cali Dirtbag

Ahh, just trying to keep it on the DL (that's rapper slang there for ya) so you can get partners. Seriously southern folks, help this girl out. She's super motivated, just lives in the wrong state.

Let me tell you about obsession. My friend Kevin on a lark took a 2-day climbing course in Yosemite, as he grew up 90 miles away. He took to it like a duck to water. In his first year of climbing he swung leads on the Rostrum and did all the difficult leads on the NW Face of Half Dome. The dude read everything he could lay his hands on, talked to anyone, was open to new things and that fella memorized things he wouldn't be doing for a couple of years. He practiced in the gym, recruited ANYONE who would hold his rope and he went after it. More than a decade later he is one of the more accomplished climbers I know and has been out climbing this hombre since his first 6 months in the game. Sport, trad, walls, bouldering, ice, mountaineering, first ascents, first free ascents, you name it. The point is this and its one I've made to a few others recently... your climbing career is yours. What you do with this obsession of yours is up to you too. Its great you're reaching out, that to me is the very first sign a noob has 'taken to the sport.' When YOU start asking others to go climbing, when you take the lead, when you assume control of your climbing education rather than waiting for others to dole it out to you, then you are a "Climber" imo. You lamented you only had a few of the fundamentals down. Crack the books girl, memorize that stuff, push yourself, assume control of your safety, your knowledge and your career. Good luck! DMT

Well, I almost never boulder, and there is some good climbing around here. So when that old fart is to sore to go, you could always try hitting me up for a parter. Though I'm not much better with my 5.5 limit. Look forward to seeing you this summer Addiroids.

i can't be a partner but how about going to a gym, or a gear shop (rei probably wouldnt work for this) and ask around or maybe just go to a crag i think the gym would be a great place to look.if acworth is near ATL i think atlanta rocks would be a good place to start. http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/gym.php?ID=637 check out the routes database for other places near(er) to you

OOPS, I mesed up. It was this thread here in Trad Climbing that had the dust up, not the one in South. NO posts were deleted, I goofed. False alarm. And by the way, the parachute nerds hafve NAKED WOMEN on their site. maybe I'll take up sky diving. And, um, I'm an idiot.
