There is a copy of Paul Piana's Touch the Sky guidebook to the Needles in South Dakota on Amazon.com right now. It is overpriced at $75, but it has been out of print for over 20 years and is very hard to come by. It's from 1983 so a lot of routes are not included, but it is probably still the best guidebook out there to the old school routes. There is a nice historical section in the beginning, like the current Alpinist mag. It doesn't look like the maps are included, but I'm not sure. Anyway, if you've been looking for one, this is your chance. PS. I am not the seller, I would not part with mine, even for $75.

Sorry to repost- it actually looks like it includes the maps- but I would ask before buying just to be sure. So $75 is maybe not such a bad deal after all.
