OK, I have kind of a stupid question about dog leg cracks. I've done a couple now (one on pitch three of Sahara terror at taquitz and the other on dog leg crack in J-tree)., and they were fun as hell.

My question is this, is a "dog leg" the shape of the crack, you know a kind of offwidthy, drawn out S shaped crack (which kind of resembles a dog leg), or is it the method used to climb this type of crack - one leg and arm in the crack and the other two out (which kind of resembles a dog humping a leg)?

Both of the dog legs that I climbed fit both criteria.

That was funny!

Annnd, I would suppose that it is named after the actual path that the crack takes up the rock, resembling the arc of a dog's leg.

Oh wow, this puts a hole new outlook when I play golf. I guess when it's a dog leg left that might mean when I hook or slice the ball and beat my club into the ground I could look like I'm humping a left leg

Oh My God...You said hump

Oh ya by the way it's the shape of the crack. I've never felt like I was humping the route when I did either of those routes... I said humping again
