Bill, I've still got a frostline down vest my aunt sewed for my grandpa over 30 years ago. Kicks ass, it does!

Me too, the coat and the woman are both still with me and 1 of them is much improved now than when it first arrived (she says the same thing too about me!)

That coat is non the worse for wear either. It accompanied me on some extended hiking in Nepal few years back and the warmth was lifesaving. (Too long of a story).

You're ever out this way, lets climb. You can borrow my cams too.

I made the tremendously horrible mistake of lending a haul bag to a friend once.

As if the thrashing it took when it was dragged to the base, up a few pitches, then back down, then up another false start weren't enough...

He then "didn't keep good track of it" in C4 and loaned it to another person who took it on two more walls then "butt scooted" down the east ledges with it before I could track it down.

Long story short - the bag was essentailly destroyed, a Metolius Halfdome. I got $70 bucks. My replacement cost well over 150.

Lame.

Haul bags take a beating. I don't recommend loaning them out, especially to someone who may not have the experience to know how to pack/protect them in the hauling process.

Maybe buy a used one. They are cheap and make a great place to store gear later. Plus, you can re-sell a used one for near what you bought it for if you take care of it.

I loan hooks, cams, biners, pins to folks I barely know. But not a pig, I guess.

I was about to say...

Wanna borrow a haul bag? I'll loan you Tom McMillan's...
Or maybe Walrus's...

I think his 'male unit' may have been involved in the thought process, the lendee was female, and rather pushy with him. He did his best to make good on it.

Hmm. Too bad she didn't want to borrow (and subsequently trash?) his unit. Probably would have worked out better for all involved. :P

I'm wondering, 3 months later, how the whole thing with the walls, haul bags and friends went?

Well, I can't speak for crackboy, but I made some new friends, used their bags, and got up a wall. :)
