GONE in 60 seconds...or.....

...should I send her back?

So this Saturday evening I'm grilling up (4) 20-24oz. Ribeye beauties. Dining on the back patio with my wife and daughter. We kill about one and a half of the steaks between the three of us. So I'm clearing the table and take two plates back up to the kitchen with a whole 24oz. slab on one plate and a half of a steak left over on the other plate. I set the plates down on the kitchen counters (fairly far back from the edge). I walk back out to the patio when I realize that my 105lb mutt (Cami) has NOT followed me back out. Suspicious, I send Vicky back in to check on the hairy hefty critter. Mind you this is within a minute of when I walked out of the kitchen. Nonchalantly Vicky walks back and informs me that there are no longer two steaks on the kitchen counter. Pissed and amazed that the mutt has consumed the meat that quickly, I run back up to the kitchen and find that not only has she pilfered the steak, but that she snatched the whole steak, not the half of a steak!!!!! DAMN!!!!!!! So I’m yelling at the dog and smacking her nose but she just lays down beside me and takes it, “like yeah….it was worth it dude, for a tasty 24oz. Ribeye cooked to perfection I’m really down with the punishment”.

So do I …

A) Let her wash it down with the remaining Pinot
B) Send her back to the breeder
C) Make her eat diet dog food for the rest of month
D) Fergetaboutit and eat the half a steak for lunch today

Doesn't matter "Glen" She's already proved she's smarter and more cunning than you. Any attempt at penalty will likely result in canine retaliation. Eat you half a steak and whack yourself on the nose with a newspaper.

Yeah, half a steak is better than none at all.
We had a Rottweiller when I was little. It took a whole chicken breast off of my sister's plate one day. Needless to say, my sister took it back and threw it away. (the dog loved her and didn't bite or anything. If it were me, I'd be missing some fingers) She figured if she couldn't have it, neither could the dog. We chalked it up to dog will be dog.

Now, this one is a little potato chip fiend. Don't let the docile look fool you.
The 5 minutes of movement she does a day is full of scavenging for dropped chips and cheerios.

Yeah? So's this one:

http://img190.imageshack.us/...9770/hankcopy6uk.jpg

He prefers Sour Cream and Onion over Doritos, but Salt and Vinegar chips are the best.

Here he is, earning every single potato chip, as he jumps over 4'6" fence, and looks thoroughly bored as he does so:

The standards (poles that hold up the fence) are 6' high, and you can see K's foot is well above those.

FWIW, Hank also likes Krispy Kreme donuts, peppermints, apples, carrots, lettuce, tomatos, and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I had a BBQ yesterday with a bunch of friends. As an appetizer I had grilled ciabatta with prosciutto. We had it out on the patio table well out of dog distance (so I thought) and we all jumped in the pool. My friends dog jumped onto the chair, made it pass 2 bags of chips, a bowl of salsa, hummus, pita bread and various vegetables and ate ALL the prosciutto off the bread. Needless to say that EVERYONE was pissed. My friend took his dog and tossed him in the pool. It was kind of funny but the dog actually liked getting tossed in so he was having the time of his life. $20 worth of meat and a free swim. I just hope that karma works with dogs, too.

i had a cat, years ago, when i lived alone, that ate a steak, raw, that was still wrapped in plastic sitting on the counter defrosting. I was a poor student at the time. I was pissed. Couldn't afford to go out and buy another one. Ramen noodles it was!!!

i wish i had pics of the cat (lucy). She lived to about 12 years and i had to put her down because of illness. Tough little cat, she survived the plastic wrapped steak.
