So i was talking to the owner of our local outdoor shop the other day, and she was telling me about how the owner of a local office building asked her to rappel down the side of his building to retrieve a wasp's nest because the pest control guys were afraid to do it... and it got me wondering... what the heck else are climber's good for? Here is my short list that I came up with after about 5 minutes of consideration... please feel free to add your two cents. In no particular order: 1) taking stuck lids off jars 2) making eve trough cleaning a spectator sport 3) rescuing cats out of trees w/o the help of the fire department 4) rendering most stone walls useless as a security measure 5) making sure that everyone at the office or social event is aware of the tools at hand, just in case there is a need for the application of a tourniquet, or an emergency escape is necessary. any others?

Climbers are good for that most important of tasks: Making sure that the world is not overrun with excess Ham Sammiches.

Retrieving kites stuck in tress, not powerlines. Reminding psych patients that they can't really climb the wall, but I can. Escaping from angry husbands who caught us cheating with their wife. Those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm good for about $20. Do me a favor and not cash that check until the end of the month, anyway.

Climbers are great for getting the possessive apostrophe rule right. But you didn't do it, so you're not a climber. Sorry.

Tying the canoe to the car so it doesn't come off in the middle the interstate and get crushed by an eighteen wheeler. Dressing up as the gorilla for nephew's party, complete with hanging by one hand and scratching under your armpit. Boring co-workers to death with over-precise details on how to execute exotic moves as a "Gaston," "Iron Cross," and "Mantle." Window washing. This one I'm serious about. I used to clean high rise building windows in Atlanta. No kidding.

climbers are good for supporting the indie/folk rock genre, being able to sleep anywhere, living on what (or if) you can afford to eat, and keeping the micro breweries in business

Getting into a trade show booth (up and over the wall, doorknob for foothold) after the dumbass Booth Captain (God I hate corp. America!) forgot the key. Oh! So THAT'S what climbers are good for! Dumbass praised me for 5.1 boulder problem, lol. DMT
