indoor & outdoor- rock, ice, snow...

I prefer multi-pitch trad climbing and bouldering outside, but I am up for the gym anytime when the weather is good, or before or after work, just to socialize. :D

fav. food: pizza, Indian, ice cream
level (lead climbed): depends on my physical condition- formerly 5.11- trad, but it's been several years since I climbed at that level...
gear: everything lol- but not the latest stuff (10-15 years old)
fav. website: I am addicted to video games (hence the deterioration of my climbing skills ><), so many sites related to the games I play =P
weird fact about yourself: I used to mow lawns for a living, now I'm a budding neurobiologist...

I think the thing I miss most about climbing is being high in the mountains for several days at a time- I'm hoping to make some new climbing friends out here in the East and maybe go on some fun expeditions anywhere!

I lived in Colorado for 10 years and used to do all sorts of great trips in the mountains of the west, and in Latin America before I went back to school- those were the days!

Hi, I'm Ryan and I'm 30 years old.

I climb 5.8s-5.10s in gyms.
I climb 5.5s-??? outdoors.

I live just outside of Waco (Wacko) Texas and I enjoy bouldering, sport climbing, toprope and gym climbing. I do want to learn lead climbing in the future.

Odd fact: I'm a paramedic here in Waco. I also enjoy rope rescue.

My first climb was when I was 18. That was a multi-pitch trad climb with a guide and 3 friends. After that, I did mostly bouldering sporadically until about 5 years ago. Then started top-roping and buying more gear. I'm still acquiring a rack. Have everything else. Have extras of some things.

I've climbed indoors, but not in a while. I really don't care for it too much. I try to get to the gunks 6-8 times a year. Hoping to do more this year. I'm climbing about 5.7. I just started leading (two 5.2's). I think I'll be sticking to trad, not sport or aid.

fav. food: Gnocchi or Indian (baingan burta)

weird fact about yourself: I'm pretty OCD. Or methodical. Or anal-retentive. Depends on who's applying the label to me. (And yes, it has a hyphen.)

random comment: Already have a small group I always climb with, but I'd like to make more friends to climb with or just chat with online.

Sorry, I'd make some witty comment but I don;t think I am supposed to post in here.

You get bonus points if the midget had a relative who performed in The Wizard of Oz though.

So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk bound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." - Ed Abbey

Name: Matt
Age: 19
Location: Near Boulder, CO in the summer. In Stockton, CA in the fall/winter/spring.

In the end, I just like climbing. I suppose I prefer outdoors (it's free! and it's outdoors!) but both are good.

Trad: I have had some experience with trad with some of my friends. This is probably my favorite type of climbing that I've done so far and the one I am most interested in learning more about.

Sport: If you consider TRing sport climbing, then I've done a fair bit. I still enjoy it and would be interested in getting into sport leading.

Aid: I haven't done it yet but would love to try it.

Fav. Food: Either Italian, Mexican, or In'N'Out.

Level: I have never truly led, so I suppose I don't have a max-lead level. I TR around 5.8 or 5.9, so I guess I would feel comfortable leading around 5.6 sport. I don't think I have enough experience placing pro to lead any trad unless there was a perfect 1.5 cam crack rated at 5.6. Learning how to place pro is my primary goal in climbing right now.

Gear: I am a poor college student slowly trying to acquire gear. Right now all I own is a harness and am borrowing from a friend all the biners, slings, rope, and webbing to set up TRs. I borrow shoes too; I probably should get my own (I have different size feet, so I'm looking for a shoe buddy. I need someone in the 10.5-11.5 range whose right foot is slightly larger than their left; PM ME!).

Fav. Website: Without a doubt, my favorite website is Wikipedia.

Weird Fact: I first skied before I could walk. My dad held me up between his legs on the bunny-hill.

I read a lot about climbing, both in books and on this website, and I think I've read enough now where it's time to put it all into practice. I guess I am looking for partners in the Boulder area to lead up trad routes and maybe teach me something about pro placement. I get off work every weekday at 1:30, so that leaves plenty of time to climb in the afternoon. Weekends are also good! PM me if you want to go climbing!

I've been "lurking" on the forums for some time now and this is a great website; I look forward to becoming an active part in the community!
