Just curious, why is the PA gathering never in PA? I think its great to have one and I know the Gunk's is a great place but would'nt a roundup of PA climbers at a Pa crag be fun? ~Rob

I will not be able to attend this year, as I will be at a wedding (not mine) that weekend. Perhaps someone else will step up and offer to set up ropes at Peterskill for those climbers attending who might not be able to lead...? T

Gail, Thanks for putting this together. Ah, cooler weather, nice folks, and good climbing await. I've been looking forward to this. I should be able to offer a ride to 2~4 people, leaving from Philly, and I'm looking for climbing partners. I'm happy to lead to 5.7+, or follow on somewhat harder stuff. Contact me privately for details about transportation or partnering. Mark

I'm in. I'll be camping again... hoping for less rain this year. Just starting with trad, so I'm looking for a few people who want to do some mock trad leads just down the road at Peterskill. Anyone?

ok I am from PA. What if I end up climbing at the Gunks during the gathering weekend? Will I be shunned for not staying with everyone, or will at least some of you acknowledge my presence. I would like to meet some climbers from Pa. thanks

I (Doug) plan on attending, but will be camping with Agnes at the MUA - hope there is no rain since the hostel is full. Any decision on what dinner will consist of?

In the past we have enjoyed: Lasagna Chilli Spagetti accompanied by salad, bread, brownies. There is always a vegetarian option. I am not sure what we are having this year...I have to think about it.

In reply to: It's that time of year.. .The New Paltz Hostel is booked for Friday September 29th through Sunday, October 1st. (The hostel sleeps 16, so sign up early if you want a bed.) Pennsylvania climbers come meet other local PA climbers at our annual Gunks gathering. (Even non PA climbers are allowed...you coming darkside? Happiegrl?) :D Gee that's almost like an invitation. I feel special now, almost like I get a bus of my own  Unfortunately Gail, I now live some 3000km away in Calgary. Alberta. For the record, I have enjoyed v1.0 thru 3.0 but I'm going to have to miss out in future. On a personal note, if you ever get out to the Canadian Rockies, I'd love to hear from you and show you around some of the crags round here. The Gunks will always be a great climbing area but too far for a weekend now. For anyone considering the gathering, do it. Hanging out at the hostel is great even if you are staying at the MUA. Even when we have been rained off, we have had some great times in previous years. It's earlier this year so no Halloween shenanigans but the rock should hopefully be a little warmer. Have fun, all.
