I just got into climbing about 2 or so months ago and I’m obsessed! I can’t stop thinking about climbing. I’ve read just about every climbing book at the local library (I think it’s about 8 now). I can’t stop checking out this site. I can’t stop checking out the gear sites. I can’t stop checking out the routes section and all the places I’m going to climb once I don’t suck anymore. I love how my forearms feel like they are going to pop after a couple hours at the rock gym. All this and I haven’t even been outside yet….I can only imagine what’s next. Is this feeling normal and does it go away?

And that my friend totally depends on the girlfriend.

Does anyone have a good idea how to portray a happy n00b dancing in unbridled excitement as an emoticon? We can add that to the list of needed emoticons, next to the smiley face playing a violin with a tear running down his cheek.

Yep, I know how you feel. I recently did my first ever sessions at a rock gym. I've always climbed outside before that. I thoroughly enjoyed the gym... so much so that I'm in the process of building my first wall at home. Have fun!

[Sex has the same if not better Utopia as climbing. And that my friend totally depends on the girlfriend. Whatever...I get plenty of sex but not nearly enough overhanging, never ending handcracks or long pulls between deep pockets on steep limestone. and p.s. newbie....it just gets better and better. Unlike sex ;)

Wow, way to ruin a n00b's fun. Anyway, congrats man! I'm glad you're feeling the climbing love. Now find someone who knows all about climbing outdoors, and start learning. Go on, get strong!

Climbing - you never loose your pump from overuse! Though you'll probably fall asleep afterwards.

You know, me too. Don't be ashamed of it I've been climbing since june and also can't stop thinking about it. Going climbing this weekend and it's all I've thought about all week. Its starting to affect my work though. Trying to get it in check. They say you're addicted when you're watching a film and you see a rock face, you then get distracted and start thinking about climbing. It happened to me just the other day. I'm a film student so I do watch a lot of films. Just getting some time when I can tell people I'm out of cell phone range or I was hanging off a rock face so I couldn't take the call is bliss. I've been told I'm becoming obssesed but I don't understand how you can't be. I just can't get enough of it.
