I'm heading out west pretty soon and NEED to climb at both the New and the Red. I got totally rained out on the east coast on my last cross-country trip and I am sure they are both too good to pass up on again. I can probably lead sport 10's, maybe trad 9's but would love to flail following some 11's maybe 12's. I've been climbing over 5 years and try to be overly safe. If you need a partner anytime soon let me know as I'm leaving in that direction in the next couple days (8-21 or so). Also if you have any personal advice or suggestions on routes, camping, grub, general conditions and the like, they would be much appreciated. cheers and thanks in advance

Hit up Bbba City for the 9's and 10's for sport. For the trad, you can just about go anywhere, I would suggest edless wall for the exposure, views and quality of routes. Your definately gonna need a guide anywhere you go. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Johnathon I'll cough up for the guide book. Is there a preferred one?

the Cater book just recently came out, includes nrg, summersville, and the meadows. kind of pricey, but well worth it. victor http://www.caterbooks.com/ but the climbing store in fayetteville (waterstone) carries copies of the book.

http://www.redriverclimbing.com Is a great resource. The guide book featured on the homepage is excellent. As for partners, you can't beat stopping at Miquel's. Just hold up a sign saying: "Will belay for beta." And you will have partners quick.
