I recently heard that nylon bruses will wear and fill in the pores of the rock does anyone know if there is truth to this? Does the same apply to gym holds?

Try a steel or brass wire brush instead. Those also tend to make the holds bigger so you can send more quickly.

Brush all you want, people just like to bitch a lot. An nylon brush wont hurt the rock at all.
