It heart me dearly to see this but mass amounts of graffiti were sprayed all over the main cliff faces at boxcar rocks. strangely many of the two bolt anchors were also painted black and gold. Mostly the bad part is the graffiti all over the cliff. hoping to plan an adopt a crag day next month to clean some of the area up. ~Rob

Dirtineye was talking about this on super topo awhile back and has some of the best advice on the net. If you follow his formula and use specific enviromently friendly products you will be amazed. Find that thread it is only a month old every thing is in there. Good luck.

Rob, Drop me a note and I'll come out and help clean it up. This weekend I am gone to the Gunks but after that I'm clear. Never been to Boxcar rocks so this would be a good excuse.

AHHHHH NO! Not boxcar, that's my home crag. Let me know for sure when you want to do the work detail, and I will do everything in my power to be there. I may even be able to get some members of the newly formed MUMA to come with me, hopefully. Peace. Colby.

guys, Thanks very much for the replies and support. that paint remover article is very helpful. I have toyed with the idea at other crags but never attempted it. I definatly plan to try this next month. Probably last weekend in Oct. I will iron out a date and post back. Once again thanks a bunch. ~Rob

Boxcar rocks was our first outdoor climb when my kids and I were getting started. I was there yesterday and was appalled at the graffiti defacing the crag. The pornographic/neo-nazi images are especially disturbing. Whether or not it can be removed, clean up of this local resource need not await an organized event. Follow my son's practice of taking a trash bag and hauling out a load of litter each time you visit. There's a decade of beer bottles and cans at this popular spot.

I spoke to the district game warden today reguarding the issue. He said they were in the midst of looking to get something done to remove the grafitti. he also stated they had prosecuted someone there in the past for vandilization. The game commission is pretty excited so far about a climber cleanup. This could be an excellent opportunity to make a good climber/state relationship with them. They also offered keys to the gate so we can get suppplies in to work. I should have a date ironed out later this week. Once again thanks for all the input and replies. ~Rob
