ok, so i have been searching all over for a Patagonia R1 Hoody, it was made for a season about six years ago, then discontinued and was back for the fall. I ordered one through Mountain Gear but it was backordered and now Patagonia is saying its a discontinued product and i cant find it anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions? places to look? therapy group for those who are depressed they don't own one? thanks, Daniel

Daniel, Check out Patagonia.com. They have the R1 hoody, billed as a "back by popular demand". I sure as hell hope it's for real, cause I'm planning on getting one soon. cb

There is one on Ebay right now... but it is at $112 with almost a day left. I want one of these too, but don't feel like getting in a bidding war. I sincerely hope they keep making these. (I searched for 'patagonia r1'- 'hoody' was not used by the seller)

I'll glue a ziploc baggie to the collar of my old (read: hoodless) R1 and sell it to you for $75.

thanks for the info, patagonia.com doesnt have any, they are completely out including the outlets and various other outdoor stores. I talked to a patagonia rep and he said that they have been discontinued for the season (they sold out in august, the same month they arrived) but it might be brought back in spring or next fall. hopefully it is cause right now it seems like the only way to get one. the one on ebay is what i want but i dont feel like a bidding war either. i am very interested in the ziploc bag idea, i hear its the new thing, steve house used it, mark twight wrote about it, and its even lighter than the R1 Hoody, i will buy it! if any of you looking for one finds a site that has some please let me know and i will do likewise. cheers, Daniel

In reply to: Daniel, Check out Patagonia.com. They have the R1 hoody, billed as a "back by popular demand". I sure as hell hope it's for real, cause I'm planning on getting one soon. cb Looks real to me. Some sizes are in stock. Patagonia fall/winter stuff is just trickling in at this moment. So if its a "new" fall item, maybe more sizes are on the way. I was looking for the R1 Granular Jacket that was not in stock a couple weeks ago, and now its in. There are certain items that they only make/sell during the winter. That is why you see things discontinued in spring then come back in the fall. And often slightly redesigned, or different colors.

I got the last medium in NYC a couple of weeks ago. I was in the Patagonia store looking for something else and saw it. Went home to order it online - hoping to get it without sales tax and found it was sold out. Called the store back to hold it for me and hauled ass back. I've used it several times already and it's just the bomb - don't leave home without it. Apparently they completely under estimated the demand. I'd suggest back ordering it from Patagonia. If they have enough back orders, maybe they'll do a special run. See my review here. Best, Kim

I believe Sunrise Mountain Sports has two, a Small and Medium if I remember correctly, the large had a defect and needed to be sent back. Feel free to call them if you like http://www.sunrisemountainsports.com
